Discover 2 of the most popular UNESCO sites near Chengdu as you learn about 2 giants - The Giant Panda and Giant Buddha on this full-day tour. Start the tour with pick up from your hotel located within the 2nd ring of downtown Chengdu. Enjoy a comfortable transfer to the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding which is just a 1-hour drive away at the edge of the city. Spend approximately 2 to 2.5 hours exploring the breeding center. See over 170 pandas from tiny pink newborns to giants which reach up to 1.5 meters tall. Admire the adorable panda babies running around their play enclosures, laying in the pool, or climbing the trees. Next, head over to the historic Leshan Buddha located is 2.5 hours away along the expressway. Stop for a quick lunch (lunch cost is not included), then discover the world's largest sitting Buddha statue which is about 71 meters high crafted out of a cliff face. If the situation allows, the guide will take you for a closer look at the Buddha's head and feet. Find out more about Buddhism and local beliefs in the Lingyun Temple next to the Giant Buddha. After 2 hours at Leshan, head back to Chengdu. Depending on traffic, END THE TOUR NEAR TIANFU SQUARE. PLEASE BE NOTED: HOTEL DROP-OFF SERVICE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR.

Your hotel inside the 2nd ring road of Chengdu downtown. Your guide will contact you about the pick-up time. Please check your front desk or concierge for the pick up time if you were not informed by the guide. The guide will come to pick you up at hotel lobby showing a board with your name on it.

  • The pick-up time may differs from your selected time as the tour is a group tour and some others may join in. The guide will arrange the pickup time logically
  • Tickets to the Panda base and Leshan Buddha park are reserved by the activity provider, so you should pay 135 RMB per person to the guide on the day of the tour for these tickets

Terrific spots to visit, especially off season. the Buddha was a long (but worth) wait at 2hours. in peak season, in the heat, not sure how I would have felt. Mark was a great guide, not overbearing, distilling key info at opportune times. highly recommended
