    Get priority entrance to Fontainebleau, the only royal and imperial château to have been continuously inhabited for eight centuries. On top of exploring chapels, galleries and guest apartments which would have been used by French and visiting royalty, you will see Marie Antoinette's bed, Napoleon's throne, François Gérard's 1807 portrait of Empress Josephine and more! Wander through over 1500 rooms and 130 acres of parkland and gardens, including the the French Renaissance garden, inspired by the Italian Renaissance gardens; the French formal garden, the favorite style of Louis XIV; and the French landscape garden, inspired by the English landscape garden. You will also be able to visit the museums and feel what it must have been like as a king or queen growing up here.

    Easy to book tickets online and save to smart phone (Apple wallet in my case). We visited both this Chateau and Versailles. If you have only one option due to time constraints, I would go for Fontainebleau. Very interesting and particularly enjoyed the Napoleon exhibition. Get Your Guide priority tickets are highly recommended.

    Very impressive chateau. Great to see original furniture and furnishings so that you can really imagine Napoleon etc in residence. Only a shame that most panels are only in French and audio guides are currently not available (understandably) because if Covid 19.

    Das Schloss von Fontainebleau ist malerisch, historisch und erzählt die Geschichten seiner Bewohner. Wenn man das Schloss in Ruhe besichtigen will, sollte man gleich am Morgen kommen wenn es seine Türen öffnet. Fast noch schöner als die ausgeschmückten Räume, ist es einen Spaziergang durch die das Schloss umgrenzenden Gärten und Parkanlagen zu machen. Dafür braucht man keine Eintrittskarte. Die Räume des Schlosses lassen sich als sehr Prunkvoll beschreiben, können aber auch überladen wirken und eine Reizüberflutung zur Folge haben. Empfehlenswert ist es somit sich einen Bereich auszusuchen und diesen genauer zu erkunden. Viel Spaß dabei!
