Touraine: Château d'Amboise and Château du Clos Lucé Tour

Overlooking the Loire, the Château d'Amboise in the heart of Touraine was home to kings Louis XI, Charles VIII (who died there), Louis XII, and François 1er. Built in the 15th and 16th centuries, it became part of the French crown in 1431. The chapel of St. Hubert houses the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci, who lived at Le Clos Lucé, 2 steps from the château. At the invitation of François 1er, Leonardo da Vinci spent the last 3 years of his life at the Château du Clos Lucé, a Renaissance marvel. Le Clos Lucé allows visitors to experience the genius of da Vinci through furnishings, decorations, inventions, and models. The park has been transformed into a play area, inviting visitors to handle da Vinci's inventions.

We enjoyed revisiting the Chenonceau and Chambord castles. Our goal was to see the Amboise castle with the tomb of the great Leonardo Da Vinci. The surprise was our guide, who provided us with competent explanations at all times, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of French history. We also noted the good planning of the visit to the three castles, as well as the preventive but effective leadership style. We appreciate that the BLUE FOX TRAVEL company is one of the best tour companies we have traveled with.

the full day trip and extensive history information was wonderful. Diana was a wonderful guide and we enjoyed our time with her and her driver. I highly recommend a private tour like this. Well worth the money.

The tour was pretty good, the guide was very friendly, his name is HP like Harry Potter, that's how he introduces himself, he explains what he is in and gives you time to explore, highly recommended.

The guide and the driver were fantastic. The castles were incredible! The guide could speak a bit louder, but otherwise recommend 10/10!!

Excellent day out exploring France. Highly recommend this tour!
