This was an outstanding tour. As we made our way through south London and into the coutryside towards Chartwell the neighborhoods and the scenery were so interesting. Spring flowering trees were starting to bloom increasingly as we made our way, and the gardens on arrival were beginning to show bulbs and daffodils. They were so well tended. Our guide was vey knowledgeable as were National Trust volunteers stationed in the home and the gallery where Churchill’s paintings were on exhibit. It was possible to imagine how the distance from London was just far enough for the Churchills, and the friends who visited them to separate themselves from the stresses of duties and environment in the city. It would have been hard for us to make our way there without this tour, or to have learned so much while there and along the wat, without our excellent guide.

Even though it was overcast and rainy most of the day, it was a fantastic experience to visit Chartwell and the Churchill estate. There is so much to see and read about Churchill at the estate that is not well know about the senior statesman. His painting abilities were known of but could not really be appreciated until you see his actual collection in his studio. I strongly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
