Full description

Embark on a guided hike in the Samariá Gorge on a day trip from Rethymno or Chania. Get your daily dose of exercise, enjoy the panoramic views and take a swim. Discover the longest gorge in Europe, an area of stunning natural beauty. See its many flowers and herbs and the crystal-clear spring waters that flow from the mountains. Following an early morning pickup from the nearest point to your accommodation in Rethymno or Chania, travel through the mountains passing the plateau of Omalos. Arrive at some wooden stairs at the start of Samariá Gorge. You can opt to start the walk straight away or get some breakfast at the taverna before you begin. Hike for approximately 6-7 hours and experience the magnificent landscape on a 16-kilometer walk. Once you have finished the hike, there will be ample time for a swim and lunch at a taverna in Agia Roumeli.

Très bonne organisation du départ en Bus, pause pour déjeuner, prise de billets (prévoir du liquide pour le bateau, l'appoint de préférence) et retour. La guide pour ces étapes et ses explications dans le bus était attentionnée à ce que chacun la comprenne dans son anglais. Le site et la rando elle même sont superbes ! Fait à la route fin de saison, nous étions 200-300 sur le site : parfait ! Température de 1° au départ à 25° (ce qui a rendu très agréable le bain de mat à l'arrivée)

In late May, 600 visitors total and moderate temperature: Amazing experience, wonderful nature, not crowded, really fantastic. But a tough walk, you have to make it on your own. The guide Ingrid (not Swedish) was great and the busdriver ”Herkules” drove us safely. Things that are good to know: Breakfast is very expensive, consider bringing your own. You cannot leave things on the bus for the return because it will be used in the meantime. There is waterfillingstations throughout the walk, so a normal 0,5l bottle is enough to bring. There are ”WC”-toilets regularely, but just a porcelainhole in the ground, prepare yourself. You have to leave by boat to get to the bus, it is not optional, cost €13/person. The food at Samaria-restaurant was catastrophical. I can recommend this trip for everyone!
