Cebu City in the Philippines is the country's oldest colonial city. It was in this province that Ferdinand Magellan landed on the Philippines. Even back then the city began to prosper from trade with China and while today it is a very modern and busy city, it still holds some of its old charm. Much of its history can still be found and easily explored with the help of a variety of guided tours.

An historic city tour of Cebu City can take you to all of its important old sites, either by horse drawn carriage or on foot, starting with Fort San Pedro. This fort was built in 1565 and used by the Spanish who had conquered the area to protect the city. Magellan's Cross is next on the tour. Magellan erected the cross here when he landed in 1521. A short walk from there is the Basilica St. Nino Church dedicated to the child Jesus.

A carriage takes you from the church to view some historic homes like Casa Gorordo that date to the Spanish colonial period in the 19th century. Casa Gorordo is a museum depicting the lifestyle of that period.

Other one-half day tours of Cebu City can take you to the Taoist Temple used by the local Chinese community as well as to the more modern and commercial sections of the city that contain lush parks, restaurants, and shopping.

What people are saying about Cebu City

One of the best days in Cebu! We were collected from our hotel on time and taken to the offices to fill out some paperwork and go over some safety features, they have lockers to lock your valuables in whilst you’re out for the day! All you need is a change of clothes and a towel everything else is sorted for you! They take photos and videos of the day so you have a copy. The waterfalls are incredible and a must see when in Cebu! Our guide for the day was so good! Had great humour and really took care of the small group, our safety was key. You get to try local foods and the meal at the end of the day is delicious!!

a car picked us up from Mactan at 4:30 am to the guide center for the trip , it took us nearly 3 hours to reach there, from there we chnged cars and a guide by the name Ren went with us to the waterfalls, we headed from the top waterfalls then going down to the kawasan wataerfall , the first two waterfalls we enjoyed alot because there was almost no one there and the third one (kawasan) not too much because of the crowd, the guide was excelent and took pictures and videos of the trip

Amazing, we got picked up from our hotel, taken straight to the meeting point, from there a guide took us to three beautiful waterfalls, which were only a short walk away from the road. The guide takes videos and pictures with a gopro which are quickly uploaded. Water, snacks and lunch were provided, where we sat and ate near the beach. would highly recommend

Definitely worth the upgrade to business class seats, spacious and comfortable. Worth going to Alona beach beautiful. One last thing air con is great on ferry but it can get a bit chilly so take something warm to wear. Booking online is so easy and takes hassle out of queuing for tickets at ferry terminal.

The day was nothing short of incredible. It started with 3am pickup. Then a long drive to Oslob. It was unexpectedly one of the most amazing things I have ever done. Then we went canyoneering which we did not expect to be as challenging as it was but it was incredible none the less.
