Amsterdam: Countryside Bike Tour and Zaanse Schans Windmills
- Small group
- Duration: 5.5 hours
Tour guide was very informative and entertaining. He spoke in English but then had to repeat it all in dutch and spanish. The tour bus was spacious and comfortable. We got to see wooden shoes being made and learned about cheese making, while tasting some of the flavours afterwards in the cheese shop. It was busy there when we went and we only had an hour or so to get something to eat and walk around at our own pace after the tour had ended. As it turned out, a tour bus had broken down so we had an extra half hour to spare so we went back for some hot chocolate which was delicious! The windmills and village scenery are beautiful to look at and we enjoyed our day out!
Guide was very informative, friendly and funny. Guide was fairly easy to find, all I would say is they could say to meet inside “this is Holland” as we wondered around outside for a bit before trying inside where the guide was. Tour was very interesting and luckily had good weather and the sun was out. Cheese demonstrations wasn’t all that though we would actually see how it was made rather than a 5 minute talk but all in all would recommend windmills and clog demonstrations was great.
For a half day this experience was very good! It provided you with a taste of all the culture without too much focus for those who just wanted an overview. Only thing to criticise is that the app did not tell you to go inside the 'This is Holland' building to register your arrival for the tour, but that's the only thing! Tour guide was lovely and knowledgeable and the ease of the app directions and public transport made this an easy accessible experience.
Very interesting 3 in 1 tour: you get to see the windmills and visit one of them (for free), visit a cheese factory and taste all types of cheese they have (dont hesitate to buy from there cheese sometimes it is cheaper than the city) and the wooden-shoes factory A must-do if you have 3 hours to spend near Amsterdam The meeting point is facing Adam Lockout so you can swing over Amsterdam after the windmills visit ;)
This windmill half day tour as FANTASTIC. Well worth buying it as it’s a half day and we had a lovely coach drive in a brand new Mercedes coach, the Tour guild Evelyn was lovely and very knowledgeable and driver Peter was great. We learned a lot and brought back many souvenirs. A lovely day altogether so if you’re in two minds, defiantly purchase this you will not be disappointed .
