Expensive for sure, but I would choose this anytime instead of hiking up. Everything worked out great. At the ticket office there's a separate door that says priority tickets. There's an office inside where they convert your mobile tickets into cable car tickets. We didn't go further up by bus, but we did notice that some people were turned away from the 4x4 buses because of lack of clothing. It was a hot day in general, but it was still VERY windy and quite cold at the top, so please don't underestimate the weather changes in high altitudes - dress up accordingly.

Book your Funivia dell'Etna cable car ticket and secure your seat for this unique cable car experience. Validate your QRcode at the Dedicated Line which is located at the entrance of the "Funivia dell'Etna" station at an altitude of 1923 meters (approximately 6,300 ft). Travel in style onboard a new generation cable car and reach the upper station at 2500 meters (approximately 8,200 ft).

At that high altitude, you will find yourself in front of a unique panorama ready to admire the summit craters of the volcano from below and the Ionian coastline. Experience the rugged beauty of Mount Etna and the surrounding area, before relaxing on the return cable car journey back down.

Just so you know, the ticket office is currently undergoing renovations, so a dedicated entrance may not be guaranteed.

Great. The cable car gave great views. Not much at the top though so we paid more to go up higher in the 4x4 bus from the top of the cable car terminus. That was spectacular. I couldn’t do the walk to the first crater but one of our party did and said it was great. I elected not to after about 50 metres as the wind was so strong and I felt very unsteady on me feet. Needed my trek stick as there was absolutely nothing to hold on to.
