Your excursion from Catania begins with a visit to the ancient town of Giardini Naxos, the first Greek colony on Sicily, founded in 734 B.C. Stop at the Isola Bella wildlife reserve, and then enjoy some time exploring the picturesque town of Taormina.
What to Expect
On this 5-hour tour you’ll start off with a drive along the seafront, admiring beautiful Naxos bay, and then continue on toward Taormina. You’ll make a stop at the wildlife reserve known as Isola Bella, considered the Pearl of the Ionian, and connected to the mainland by a thin strip of sand.
From here it’s possible to admire the bay and the promontories of Capo Sant’Andrea, home to the renowned Grotta Azzurra, and of Capo Taormina. If you like, you can swim in the crystal-clear waters.
The final part of your excursion takes you to the picturesque town of Taormina. From the Corso Umberto, the town’s main road, you’ll see the Messina Gate below and the Catania Gate on the mountain side.
Admire the most important monuments, including the Palazzo Corvaja, the Museum of Arts and Folk Traditions, the Teatro Antico, Piazza IX Aprile, the Torre dell’Orologio, the Cattedrale Fortezza, the Badia Vecchia, and the Palazzo Duca di Santo Stefano.
Take some time to browse the exclusive shops and handicraft vendors before the return trip.
