This was really an off-the-road experience. The buggy was ready, perfectly functioning and completely safe. You are accompanied by a professional person who explains you how to drive and also something about the environment. You see the Etna environment from really very close. Pls note that the start and ending point is not in the city center of Catania, but a bit outside. A taxi ride costs 40 euro one-way. For me, after 4 hours driving, I had enough of the noise of the buggy.

We went offseason in mid February, essentially had a private tour to Mt Etna. Arrived at the office with the address provided, buggy was already out front ready to go when we got there, tour guide met us out front and was very friendly! Speaking fairly good english, he brought us inside to give us more info and have us sign some papers and offered restroom before we left. He showed us quickly how to operate the buggy and seatbelts. We jumped in the buggy and followed him in his truck through town until we got to the offroad part. He would stop every now and then the check on us and bring us to points of interest for info/history/pictures, etc. at the top we stopped for coffee and bathrooms then went to a small cave where he provided helmets/flashlights. The cave was interesting to see how it formed but was small. Afterwards we took some other offroad trails and had a lot of fun. Rode back through town and back to office, bathroom offered again to clean up. Well worth the money!!!

A little bit of road, but the fun factor is still not neglected. A great adventure against a breathtaking backdrop! The off-road driving was spectacular. However, if you want to experience Mount Etna up close, you should definitely stop by on a second day and take the cable car + tracked vehicle up (approx. € 80) or pack stable hiking shoes.
