Good tour with Mai, a local vietnamese. I had good chats with her. You have plenty time to take pictures and do stops where you want. In May, people are planting rice, a good occasion to see the process and do it yourself if you want to try. Some villages are more touristic than other, I appreciate to do less touristic village and see more authentic local life like peoples cutting wood for winter, crafting traditional clothes, school, rice fields.. Like Sapa, you must be prepared to see many child and women selling you things regularly. One or two will probably follow you on your hike. They insist oftentimes for selling you things at stops and lunch, but during the hike they will not disturb you. Remember that they just try to get some money to live, don’t blame them and don’t blame your guide, not fair for them to tell to their neighbors to let you alone while they’re working for you. And sometimes I had good chat with some of them, even if I didn’t bought something.

We really enjoyed this beautiful experience, especially thanks to our lovely guide Tung, who did her best to share her knowledge about her beautiful culture. The sleeper bus to SaPa was super comfy, and so was the cute little guest house we stayed at.

Despite a lot of rain and fog, we had a fantastic 2 days in Sa Pa. From the trek through the rice fields with Soso, to the home stay and the food, it was a once in a lifetime experience!

Best experience of my life so far!! Definitely do the homestay option. My guide, Soso, is the most wonderful soul I’ve ever met. Thank you so much! I will return! So much is Sa Pa!

saw much more scenery and photo shoots than if walked and hardly worked up a sweat
