Kayak in the Caribbean Sea and Roseau River from St. Lucia’s cinematic Marigot Bay. Traveling through a diverse landscape of palm trees and mango plantations, you will get time to snorkel or swim in the warm waters.
What to Expect
Marigot Bay has been photographed so many times over the years that first time visitors sometimes experience a sense of déjà vu. On this 3-hour kayak adventure you will canoe from the Bay along the coast and enter the Roseau River.
It is not surprising that the area is a photographer’s dream destination. The peaceful landscape of swaying palms and sparkling clear water caught the eye of filmmakers who used it as a location for the original 1967 "Doctor Doolittle" movie starring Rex Harrison.
While he could talk to the animals you will be talking to an expert kayak guide who will kit you out with all the necessary equipment and give you an orientation lesson of about 30 minutes before you set off.
You will kayak on the open sea, interacting with the lush west coast of St. Lucia, before you enter the river approximately 20 minutes from the departure point.
As you cruise along the river, you will travel through a lagoon under a canopy of mangroves, serenaded by tropical birds.
Along the way you will pass a number of sights that offer fantastic opportunities for snorkeling and - conditions permitting - you can jump out of the boat for a splash in the water.
You will continue up river for a short distance from the lagoon, before turning back for your return journey towards the sea, and another chance to kayak along the sheltered west coast.
