Barcelona: Gaudi's Casa Vicens Skip-the-Line Entrance Ticket

Barcelona: Gaudi's Casa Vicens Skip-the-Line Entrance Ticket

Visit Casa Vicens, the first house of Gaudí, and the first important work by the architect. This was the work that marked his point of departure, an architectural gem which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005.  Constructed between 1883 and 1885 by order of Mr. Manuel Vicens, Casa Vicens is one of the first masterpieces of Modernism, and an anticipation of the later work of Gaudí.  Originally, it was projected as a holiday home with a garden, in which geometric shapes and rich ornamentation, inspired by the surrounding vegetation, are present both in the exterior of the house and in the different interior spaces. This skip-the-line ticket allows you priority entrance and access to the whole complex.

Then, head to the colorful Born district, once a seaside resort for the medieval aristocracy. Visit Casa Calvet, designed by Gaudí and declared a Place of Cultural Interest in 1969. Move on to the modern quarter of Grácia and immerse yourself in its unique Catalan Modernism style. See buildings of extraordinary designs, such as the Casa Batlló and La Pedrera.  Weave your way through Vila de Grácia, Barcelona's coolest suburb and its true administrative and commercial center. Admire the 33-meter tall bell tower, crowned with the famous bell of the "Marieta." Get brilliant views of Casa Vicens, considered one of the first buildings of the Art Nouveau movement and the first house designed by Gaudí. Journey along Passeig de Sant Joan to reach the astonishing Sagrada Familia, Gaudí's unfinished basilica, under construction since 1883. Built between 1883 and 1885 as a summerhouse for the Vicens family, Casa Vicens showcases Gaudí’s unparalleled talent. As part of a small group personalized tour, you will learn more about Gaudí in this building that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. After the tour, you’ll be free to wander around the house at your own pace as long as you like to admire every nook and cranny of this first masterpiece of the Modernism movement.

Barcelona: Discover Gaudí, Sagrada Familia, and Park Güell

Barcelona: Discover Gaudí, Sagrada Familia, and Park Güell

This perfectly planned walking tour of Gaudí's most iconic buildings gets you inside each site without the crowds and gives you the flexibility to get up early or sleep in on their vacation. The morning tour includes entrance to Casa Battló where you'll get to explore each room ahead of the crowds. While the afternoon tour takes you inside the first house Gaudí designed, Casa Vicens, which laid the foundation for his success. Either way, you’ll enjoy the same crowd-free experience and visit Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia with a knowledgeable guide. The morning tour starts at Casa Battló where you’ll go straight to the most famous rooms. Your guide will show you the tiny details that make this house so fascinating; from breathing ‘gills’ to the clever play of light in the building’s tiles. Then it’s on to Casa Milà, where you’ll learn how this austere building came by the nickname “Stone Quarry.” From there, it’s off to Park Güell. Part fanciful explosion of color, part thoughtful study of organic forms, it is a perfect reflection of the natural world. Since this became a ticketed site a few years ago, entrance lines have become extremely long – so it’s a good thing you have skip-the-line access. Finally, hop on a private minibus for a short transfer to Gaudí’s most iconic work: the one and only Sagrada Família. You’ll spend a full hour exploring the church itself, then, unlike most tours, you will go down into the museum to see some of the architect's drawings, models, and calculations, plus a clear view of his tomb. If you opt for the afternoon tour, you'll begin the walking tour with stops outside the impressive Casa Battló and Casa Mila. From there, you'll ride the metro to Casa Vicens and enter the colorful first house Gaudí designed. Most tourists miss this, but you'll find out how Casa Vicens put Gaudí on the map. From there, you'll walk to Parc Güell and breeze past all the tourists with skip-the-line tickets. After your guided tour, board a private minibus to the last stop of the day: La Sagrada Familia. Enter after the daytime crowds have left and the golden hour light streams through the stained glass windows. As the tour draws to a close, get recommendations from your guide on where to eat the best tapas or stay a little longer to continue exploring.

Barcelona: The 3 Gaudí Houses Tour

Barcelona: The 3 Gaudí Houses Tour

Your Gaudí walking tour starts at the old village of Gràcia. There you will meet your English, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean-speaking guide before setting off to discover one of Barcelona’s best kept secrets until 2017: Casa Vicens. This was Gaudí’s first house as a young graduate, and was inspired by Oriental influences. The house, surrounded by luxurious gardens in the past, is now the ultimate hidden gem of the city. Out of the upper Barcelona neighborhood you’ll walk down Passeig de Gracia and arrive to Casa Milà where you can get ready to experience some deep immersion. Barcelonans hated it at the time that it was built, but these days "La Pedrera" is one of Barcelona’s must-see attractions. The house is like a fairy tale when you see it from outside, and even better when viewed from the interior. With a fast-track ticket included, you'll be able to skip the lines and explore the tenant's apartment, the inner courtyards and the rooftop. Casa Milà's rooftop is said to be the best terrace in Barcelona, not only because of its amazing views, but also because you'll be able to pose next to Gaudí's famous solider statues, one of the city icons. During the tour down Passeig de Gràcia you’ll discover some other amazing buildings from the same Modernista period before arriving at Casa Batlló, where you'll be able to appreciate the legendary facade and the dragon-like rooftop. This is probably the building where Gaudí let his imagination go completely, with many people saying it’s like being deep under the surface of the ocean. Your guide will lead you through the main vestibule and the noble floor before saying farewell.

Barcelona: Casa Batlló, Casa Milà & Casa Vicens Guided Tour

Barcelona: Casa Batlló, Casa Milà & Casa Vicens Guided Tour

Depending on the option selected, we will begin the tour outside Casa Batlló, as its imposing façade will leave you in awe. Its undulating balconies and the bright colors of Antoni Gaudí’s modernist architecture will remind you of the marine world. Once inside Casa Batlló, we can immerse ourselves in the mind of Antoni Gaudí, probably Barcelona’s most important architect. As we walk through the different rooms of the house, we will discover how the Batlló family lived at the beginning of the 20th Century. We will walk through the main floor, where we can find the great hall with unique views of Passeig de Gràcia. We will pass through the main dining room and the modernist courtyard. Access the dragon’s rooftop through the inner courtyard, where the color blue dominates, and where looking through the glass will make you feel as if you are under the sea. On the rooftop we will marvel with the chimneys, where Gaudí considered even the smallest details and which are made using his quintessential technique, trencadís. Moreover, this rooftop is home of a dragon, will you be able to find it? In this incredible space of the Casa Batlló you will enjoy a short time to take photos and enjoy the views. At the end of the visit, if you have chosen this option, we will go to Casa Milà. Popularly know as La Pedrera, where we will start the guided tour discovering its impressive stone façade. The undulation of the façade combined with the wrought iron railings will remind you a seabed full of seaweed. We will have the opportunity to walk through the neighbors’ flat, which will be like a journey back in time. Your guide will explain how a bourgeois family lived there at the beginning of the 20th Century, as the house is completely decorated with furniture from the period. Look at all the details, as Gaudí considered even the design of the doorknobs. Discover the two interior courtyards of Casa Milà: the “Patio de las Flores”, full of mural paintings that decorate this place, and the “Patio de las Mariposas”, where a butterfly is perfectly represented. Walk through the impressive attic, known as the “Whale Attic” because of its shape, which gives you the sensation of entering the interior of a large living being. Formed by more than 270 catenary arches, it will remind you the skeleton of a whale. We will not forget the Warriors’ Rooftop, from where you will have beautiful 360º views of Barcelona. The name of this rooftop is due to the chimneys, which represent the warriors and guardians of Casa Milà. At the end of the guided tour of Casa Milà or Casa Batlló, if you have selected the option, you will head towards Casa Vicens, Gaudí's first masterpiece and an icon of Modernism. Explore this fascinating building at your own pace accompanied by an audio guide, who will explain all the secrets and details of its architecture and decoration. Enjoy a glass of cava in an exclusive atmosphere to conclude your tour of Gaudí's most emblematic houses.
