Algarve: Silves Farmers Market and Orchard Private Day Tour

1. Algarve: Silves Farmers Market and Orchard Private Day Tour

Taste the freshest oranges possible on this private day trip to Algarve orange country. Visit the Silves farmers market and have a walk by the Arade river, learn about orange farming at an orange orchard, taste an orange plucked straight from a tree, and enjoy a glass of just-squeezed orange juice. The tour starts in the town of Silves, the heart of Algarve’s orange country. Visit the farmers market and wander by the Arade river – its pretty views of the Roman bridge and the red-hued town are not to be missed.  Next, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of one of the largest orange orchards in the region, where you can learn about the farming process. The Algarve region produces what are considered to be the best oranges in the world, and the Silves area, in particular, is known for its sweet, fine-skinned, aromatic, and incredibly juicy oranges.  Your guide will instruct you on a variety of species, grown so that oranges can be enjoyed all year round. You’ll even get to pluck an orange straight from a tree and enjoy its delicious taste, farm-fresh. The tour ends with a serving of a delicious, naturally sweet, vitamin-packed glass of just-squeezed orange juice.

Algarve: Landscapes, Pottery, and Winery Tour

2. Algarve: Landscapes, Pottery, and Winery Tour

Much of the charm of Algarve, Portugal, resides in its ability to provide top-class tourist facilities while retaining its own identity that’s easily visible in the traditional villages and activities of the area. Explore the region’s villages with a guide and stop at a pottery shop and winery. Visit Porches Pottery, home of original ceramic art. Learn how many of the traditional methods of pottery production are still used here today. See artisans making and painting pottery by hand. Then, visit the fishing village of Benagil that’s perched above the Atlantic. See the village’s tiny but picturesque beach and hear uninterrupted sounds of the Atlantic. Heading towards the resort of Carvoeiro, stop at Algar Seco where you can see mesmerizing caves and grottoes carved from the coastline over the centuries. Later, take a stroll through the village of Ferragudo along the cobbled streets and down to the small harbor. Before finishing the tour, stop at a winery and enjoy a tour and tasting of the wines produced in this region.

Great day out

We booked as a family of 4 on this day trip and enjoyed every min, Neesha was a fantastic guide and host and our day was jammed packed from 8.15 pick up until 17.15 drop off, the jeep ride was exhilarating and the boat trip beautiful with a great stop at a lovely vin yard for some delicious Portuguese wine and beer and the mountains for a taste of honey and authentic fire water, would def recommend.

George was a very funny and nice guide. He speaks several languages so was able to connect with everyone. Very nice.

Orange Orchard, interesting and informative. The guide knew his stuff.
