Full description
Make the most of this private tour to visit the principal sites of interest in the old city of Cartagena — all while traveling in comfort, on board a luxury air-conditioned vehicle. Starting in the downtown area, you will head to the Manga neighborhood, where you can appreciate the beautiful mansions built at the beginning if the 20th century. Continue on to the highest part of the city where there is a convent dating from the beginning of the 17th century. Visit the San Felipe de Barajas Fortress, considered the most important fortification in South America. From here, you will head to the walled city with a stop for some shopping. Following a little retail therapy, visit the different squares of the city and admire the old colonial houses. After a journey of historical discovery, fast forward to the present day and explore the modern part of Cartagena, including the Bohemian neighborhood of Gethsemani. We booked this private city tour on the occasion of a cruise. The pickup at the port terminal went smoothly, our guide welcomed us in an air-conditioned car. He spoke German and English, the communication worked without problems! A visit to the fortress and the monastery was included, furthermore we saw the old town and drove briefly through the new town! Unfortunately there was no time left to see the ghetsemani district, which was a shame! Our guide offered to take pictures of us! Half a liter of water was included!

This is the BEST way to see the amazing city of Cartagena. We can’t say enough about our wonderful guide, Sandy. He was endlessly knowledgeable - a history teacher who really knows his stuff. In addition, Sandy was incredibly thoughtful; making sure my 87 year old mother in law was comfortable. My family has been on many city tours while cruising and we all agreed this was one of our favorites. Skip the cruise tour and go here you won’t regret it.

Our guide, Hernan, started the tour with a drive to La Popa and we were able to see the city from the top and that gave is a great perspective of what we were going to see next. The fort was nice (so was the refreshment stop at the bottom). Hernan was knowledgeable and super nice.
