It was a really cool tour and showed us the views we wouldn’t have been able to see ourselves (we don’t have a car). Luca the guide gave interesting and useful information. There is quite a bit of time spent in the car though, so you see stuff more from the window than live (but I understand one can’t just stop in the middle of the road because of traffic and safety reasons). Overall we loved the tour and would recommend.

If you are visiting Northern Italy and missing the Carrara tour, then please know that you are missing a lot. It was a jaw dropping and mesmerizing experience.At every turn of the road we had a surprise. Above all, I must mention that the tour should score 10 out of 10 mainly because of our tour guide Luca. His explanation was excellent. He was also very knowledgable and humorous. Overall, we would have regretted if we did not take this tour.

Our tour lasts about two and a half hours, allowing a visit to the three mining basins Colonnata, Miseglia and Torano, entering several working quarries both open pit and tunnel. Luca was great company. Enthusiastic about all aspects of Carrara from the geology to the mining techniques to the history to the social and political-economic costs. We talked non-stop. A highlight of the trip and of course the quarries are astonishing in their scale and otherworldly appearance. Highly recommend.
