Carcassonne castle is definitely the sight you want to see when visiting Carcassonne. There are clear directions to the chateau and to the ramparts. I would see the chateau first, since it closes first. If there is a criticism to be made it is that the Google maps that I used to get there got me close to the meeting point, but I had to make my way to the entrance along unfamiliar streets.

This was our first time using this type of an audio guide. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of content and the way it worked. We will be using this type of guiding format in the future. It is very difficult to find a good guide and this audio guide is a great alternative.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Carcassonne. The mobile ticket allowed us to immediately be scanned and begin our self-guided tour. Paper ticket holders were queuing in a separate, long line … The fortress and grounds are well worth the visit, as you can have lunch, ice cream, do shopping and take a quick walk across the Aude River to La Bastide, an adjacent grid-based town built in the 13th century. Highly recommend!
