Sierra Nevada: Climb to Mulhacén Peak

Sierra Nevada: Climb to Mulhacén Peak

The Mulhacén with its 3480m is the roof of the Sierra Nevada and the Iberian Peninsula. On a 2-day route we guide you to its summit where we can enjoy unbeatable views and sensations. To make it more bearable, we will spend the night at the Poqueira refuge located at an altitude of 2500m. Day 1 Departure from the Portillo basin in Capileira. We will cross the pine forest where in its highest part, we will see the twisted pine trees with very curious shapes due to the forces of the air and the snow. We will go up to the Poqueira refuge, where we will spend the night and rest before ascending Mulhacén the next day. Day 2 After breakfast we will ascend the Mulhacén River to reach the Caldera lagoon at about 3000m high. After a short rest we will begin the attack to the summit. On our ascent, we will stop at Collado del Ciervo, where we will take a breather and marvel at the views before our eyes. The impressive walls of the Alcazaba and Mulhacén, with the Mosca lagoon at their feet, will occupy our entire field of vision. Once we have conquered its summit, we will descend along the southern slope towards the Portillo basin in Capileria. * If you are in good physical condition, this climb can be done in one day depending on the snow conditions.

From Granada: Sierra Nevada & Alpujarra Private Day Trip

In this excursion I want to show you one of those places that you will keep in your memory forever: the Alpujarra of Granada. After arranging a meeting point, I will pick you up in my vehicle to drive for approximately 1.5 hours to the first of the 3 villages we will visit: Pampaneira. Pampaneira is one of those beautiful white villages that seem to be hanging in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. We will walk through its streets to get to know the curious and particular architecture of this region. We will enter some of its stores to know the local handicraft products: "jarapas" (carpets), honey, chocolate... After Pampaneira, the next village awaits us: Bubión. Here I would like to tell you about the fundamental role that this area played in the past: wars between Muslims and Christians, forced conversions and a legacy that still lasts. In Bubión we can visit the "Museo Casa Alpujarreña" (entrance included) where we will visit a house that has changed little over the years, so we can understand much better how people lived in the Alpujarra. Finally, we will finish our excursion in the highest village we visit, Capileria, at 1,436 meters above sea level, we will have a spectacular view of the valley, Sierra Nevada and even the Mediterranean Sea. Lunch is not included. You will have the option to bring your own picnic or follow the recommendations I will give you to try the local gastronomy.
