Full description

Starting near the lower cable car station, this hike will take 3-4 hours to the top. Look out for indigenous flora, like the King Protea, wander at the spectacular rock formations, like the India Venster (“Window” in Afrikaans), and witness views as far as the eye can see, taking in Robben Island and the whole of Table Bay. The sense of adventure is amazing!

Know before you go

  • This is a strenuous hike and is only suitable for people who are relatively fit. The hike involves scrambling and exposure to heights (narrow ledges – nothing extreme) about 15% of the way. For those with extreme height phobias, this may not be the hike for you. Kasteelspoort (12 Apostles) hike, Platteklip Gorge, or Skeleton Gorge hike are recommended as alternatives. All of these hikes end at the Upper Cableway where you will take the cableway down
  • If the cableway is not running due to weather or maintenance, your guide will walk you down again, which adds about 2 hours and we charge an additional R400 per person, which can be paid to your guide in cash.

Indian Venster mit Guide Mike war ein atemberaubendes Erlebnis, was wir nie vergessen werden! Wir sind früh bei bestem Wetter gestartet. Die Ausblicke waren unbeschreiblich schön. Die Natur und Ruhe auf dieser (nicht touristischen) Tour einmalig und Mike war mehr als ein Bergführer. Er hat uns soviel über Kultur und Natur erklärt und uns stets sicher über jede noch so knifflige Kletterpassage geführt. Besonders fürsorglich hat er sich um unsere 11 jährige Tochter gekümmert! Für jeden, der ein kleines Abenteuer der Touristenschlange an der Bergbahn vorzieht, sollte diese Tour buchen! Und fragt nach Mike!

Really nice hyking tour to discover Capetown and Table Mountain from a different perspective. Our guide Irene was obliging and very experienced. She introduces us to a lot of new local plants and guided us very well to the top of the mountain. The route is not easy and requests some scrambling but with Irene we always felt save. The route in general is amazing and offers a unique panorama of Capetown. I highly recommend tgia tour for everone who is seeking for some adventure.

Our hike up with Cliff was truly an unforgettable experience! He has a vast knowledge of the history/fauna of the landscape and would share this when we stopped to catch our breaths and admire the views. His enthusiasm to share his love of the outdoors was infectious and we laughed/sang and scrambled our way to the top! We cannot recommend him enough and can’t wait to visit again for a longer hike!
