Embark on an all-inclusive adventure on this whale watching private tour in Hermanus where you will charter a boat and set sail to encounter the southern-right whales. You'll also explore Hermanus town, enjoy a wine tasting and visit the Penguins Colony.
What to Expect
Guests will be collected from their hotel/guest house at the agreed time by a qualified tour guide/driver in a luxury private vehicle in Cape Town and surrounding areas. It is recommended that you leave at 7:00 am at the latest to experience the all-inclusive full-day boat-based whale watching private tour.
You will set off along the N2 towards Hermanus, passing through small towns like Grabouw and Elgin, referred to as the apple growing region of the Cape. Upon reaching the whale watching boat base in Hermanus, guests will receive a briefing by whale specialist site guides who will accompany them on the boat. After that they will set sail towards the southern right whales for an up close and personal encounter with these majestic creatures. Guests will spend 2 to 3 hours on the water. These whales, which equal in size up to ten African elephants, normally approach the boat to see what's going on, so you'll get a good view. Light refreshments are served on the boat and the accompanying site guide will ensure that you don't miss any photo opportunities. The site guide will also give the guest all the information they need to know about the whales. A translator is also on board.
After the private whale watching tour, guests will have the opportunity to explore the town of Hermanus, one of the most popular holiday destinations for the locals in Cape Town and South Africa. We will then journey to the Hemel-en-Aarde valley for one or two wine tasting experiences and an optional lunch (excluded). The very popular Newton-Johnson wine estate restaurant is ideal for a beautiful lunch. Please advise if you wish to go here upon booking so that a reservation can be made for you. Wine tasting will be enjoyed in the Newton-Johnson tasting room as well as Creation wine estate tasting room.
Next you'll proceed towards Betty's Bay for a visit to one of the largest penguins colonies in the Cape at Stony Point. After the penguins, you'll travel back to Cape Town via the R44 and see for yourself what makes the Cape coastline so different to others.
Guests will be dropped off at the hotel/guest house, or a restaurant for dinner.
