Full description
In just 20 minutes you’ll be out of Cape Town’s city center and traveling along the Overberg south coastal route to Gordon’s Bay, Pringle Bay, and Betty’s Bay. The route is picturesque and is an enjoyable way to set the mood for the full day ahead. Travel beneath Sir Lowry’s Pass and see the sheer cliff faces that drop into the Indian Ocean below. As you near Betty’s Bay, you’ll have views of unspoiled beaches stretching for miles. Stop to see the breeding ground of the African penguins at Stony Point or visit the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden. Continue the drive through Hermanus to the seaside town of Gansbaai. The magnificent cliffs of De Kelders and the unspoiled beach provide for perfect land-based whale watching. In Gansbaai, you’ll head out on a 2-hour whale-watching journey. The purpose-built boat and restrictions on the number of passengers make it possible to fully enjoy the experience of observing these creatures at play. Afterwards you’ll head back along the coast to Hermanus for a late lunch (not included in the tour price). There’s much to see and discover in Hermanus, including up-market shops and arts and crafts stalls. Head along the N2 to the Peregrine Farm Stall, the final stop on the tour. Experience old-fashioned values and quality produce straight from the farms.

Wonderful experience, our Guide Wyne was very punctual, kind and welcoming. He gave us all the information along the scenic route and introduced us to the local culture and history with his stories. We came to the beach to admire the penguin colony, we were alone in a National Geographic atmosphere, we crossed the coast, having lunch in a fascinating crocodile farm and then arriving at the sea excursion. The comfortable boat with up to 8 people. We were able to enjoy an exceptional and exciting day. We were able to see 6 whales including 3 in a group splashing and jumping out of the water, really exciting. The boat remains at a safe distance so as not to disturb the cetaceans but they are so huge that it seems to touch them. All the explanations provided on board were also comprehensive. Back to the hotel with a heart full of emotions for the wonderful day.Thank you, well deserved 5 stars!

We didn't see any whales on December 1st. That was a little disappointing. Only seals, cormorants and 1 penguin were shown. But our guide Charlton was great. He told us many things about the country and its people and chose two different routes to the ship. We could therefore see a lot of the country. Definitely full marks for Charlton!

Picking up at the Aibnb was great and our guide Brad, who saw himself as Ambassador of South Africa. and vividly tore lots of backgrounds, so that even tips were given, the day was unforgettable despite partial rain. Especially when we suddenly saw the sunshine on November 12th. discovered another whale mum with a baby in front of Hermanns. A flock of dolphins and two seals accompanied us back a bit.
