When I booked this tour I was somewhat sceptical that what was promised would be achieved but was pleasantly surprised at the quality & content of the trip. Having experienced safari holidays in both SA & Namibia my husband & I felt that the Aquila’s game reserve succeeded in only 2 1/2 hours a real taste of how wonderful it is to see wild animals in their true habitat. We didn’t expect to see a leopard but we had good viewings of the other four of the Big 5 plus zebra, giraffe, ostrich, springbok , ostrich, hippo & more. Together with informed guides, an excellent lunch & a scenic 2hr drive each way from guests’ Cape Town hotels, this was very good value for money experience.

Discover animals like the lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and Cape Buffalos on this day trip from Cape Town to a Big Five Game Reserve. Take a game tour in an open top, all-terrain vehicle. Stop for a delicious lunch at the reserve's lodge.  After a morning departure, you will head up the N1 Highway, through the spectacular Hex River Valley, and arrive at the Big Five Game Reserve. The bio-diverse habitat of the reserve ensures plenty of interest for the avid game viewer and bird watcher. Spot giraffes, blesbok, black and blue wildebeest, zebras, springbok, gemsbok, klipspringers, duikers, greybuck, steenbok, ostriches, baboons, caracals, foxes, jackals, and more. Spot up to 172 species of birds, including the majestic black eagle. Enjoy a game drive with a well-informed ranger followed by a delicious lunch at the lodge.

  • We require names and last names of all guests travelling (reason being if a tour booking is made with one person and the hotel reservation is made under another, we will be informed by the hotel that there is nobody by that name at the hotel which will result in delays and could cause the guests to miss the tour).

Fantastic tour. Our driver was very friendly and drove safely. In the reserve, the guide called Charlie was also very friendly and I had the opportunity to see all the species of animals in the reserve.
