Overview
Look out for southern right whales during migration season along South Africa’s False Bay, Gordon's Bay and Betty's Bay. Enjoy a scenic drive through stunning Cape scenery to Hermanus, and board an optional boat tour to get even closer to the whales.
What to Expect
Enjoy a full-day searching for migrating southern right whales on a scenic tour of South Africa’s Western Cape. The private tour from Cape Town will take you along the spectacular N2 Highway, past wine farms, fruit farms and roadside stalls selling delicious fresh produce.

Feel free to break during the 90 minute journey for a cup of a coffee. You will be touring the world’s best whale watching site, where you can almost touch the amazing creatures as they swim off shore.

Southern right whales are baleen whales and readily distinguished from other whales by the callosities on their heads. They have a broad back without a dorsal fin, and a long arching mouth that begins above the eye. They migrate from the colder southern polar waters to the Western Cape, in order to mate and calve from June to November.

An optional boat trip to whale watch before lunch in Hermanus is highly recommended. A typical boat tour lasts approximately 2 hours, and will get you even closer to the magnificent marine mammals as they swim and breach.

Return to Cape Town via the majestic Sir Lowry's Pass, enjoying breathtaking views of Cape False Bay and the rugged coastline as you drive through Gordon's Bay, Pringle Bay and Betty's Bay.
