Full description
Uncork the Cape winelands and get drunk on its rich history, culture, and scenic vistas on a full-day trip with a guide who takes the terror out of terroir. Your journey begins in the Paarl wine region, famous for its cheese and wine tastings and great views. You’ll then meander to the Franschhoek wine region – a historic French enclave and granddaddy of South African viticulture with stunning mountain views. Then on to student-settled Stellenbosch for home-cloned Pinotage and award-winning farms. Also included is a delicious a la carte lunch with vegetarian options. From full-bodied tales with complex twists – like a 1688 French-run slave farm turned 21st century community driven wine project - to light and fruity fables, Bruce and his guides will keep you entertained. Travel along Cape Town's high roads and back roads tasting and learning about South Africa’s bubbly Cap Classique, heady ports, sweet dessert wines and plenty of red and white wines.

From beginning to end this was a fun and pleasurable trip. Nick, our guide, was friendly , engaging and knowledgeable. The wineries we visited were varied and the wine tastings at each place were good. One, in particular, had amazing views and the chance to view springboks, zebra and wildebeest. We had several choices for lunch and each dish was presented well and the food was tasty and plentiful.

Great wine tour. We visited four wineries and sampled a wide variety of wines, all in beautiful locations. We particularly enjoyed the Muratie winery and cheese pairings at Fairview. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative, and we enjoyed being able to do the tasting with a group of other people on the van, who were all very nice.

We did our tour with Bruce and he was incredibly friendly and knowledgable about wine. It was clear our guide was experienced not only with wine in general, but that he also knew a great deal about the wines we were drinking. He also modified the order in which we visited the wineries since we were visiting during the holiday season, since he knew when we could visit each to avoid massive crowds. We visited four estates and while I can't remember how much wine we drank at each, I can say that it is most definitely more than enough for the value. Overall, I learned a lot about South African wine and felt that I got a wide variety on this tour. Can't recommend enough!
