Visit Tranquility Cracks on a 5-hour trip from Cape Town. Discover this hidden gem, a beautiful place to hike, as you explore the ancient rock formations. Climb up Table Mountain, see the 12 Apostles, and take in the many panoramic views along the way.
What to Expect
Spend a half day in the nature outside Cape Town with a hike to Tranquility Cracks, located in Table Mountain National Park.
The route starts on the Atlantic Ocean side of Table Mountain. Make your way up, meeting with the historical Pipe Track and winding in and out of ravines. You will come to a cave overhang where you will stop to take in a view of Camps Bay below.
Then make your way around and up a ravine until reaching the top, with views of the backside of the mountain, Muizenberg, Constantiaberg, and the dams across the Orange Kloof forest. From here it is a short walk to the entrance of Tranquility Cracks which are ancient cracks in the rocks with yellowwood trees coming out. It is a wonderful, secret place to explore and look around.
Walk along the top of the 12 Apostles until you reach the remnants of the Old Cableway, which used to bring the men and materials up to the top in the late 1800s. From here, walk down the Kasteelpoort route back to the car.
