From Faro: Dolphin-Watching & Wildlife

Discover the wildlife in Faro's waters on a dolphin-watching cruise aboard a speedboat. Have the opportunity to see dolphins, birds, and, if you're lucky, turtles and small sharks. Learn about the marine animals with the onboard with the Skipper. Although the is no guarantee that dolphins will be spotted on the trip, there is 90% chance of finding the sea animals. After making your own way to the meeting point, board the boat and cruise through the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Admire the landscape of winding waterways as you make your way to Cape Santa Maria, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Rio Formosa river. Upon arrival at the ocean, keep your eye out for local dolphins. Enjoy the best chance of seeing them on this morning cruise because the dolphins approach the coast looking for food at this time. As well as dolphins, look out for birds, turtles, and harmless sharks, and feel free to ask the skipper questions about the wildlife. On the way back to Faro, enjoy different views of the natural park due to the changing tides of the Ria Formosa.

A tour with 4 stops on 2 islands. The first stop, Deserta, was only 45 minutes, so we didn't have enough time, but we had plenty of time for the rest. Get Your Guide says it's a 4-hour tour, but we actually left at 10am and arrived at the departure point at 3:30pm, so if there's a next schedule, you should definitely check it out. (We barely made it to the 4pm train to Porto.) Thanks to Joan, our captain and guide! Thanks to him, we didn't miss the train! :)

Very interesting boat tour through the Ria Formosa, the islands are a dream, coffee stop at the lighthouse in Farol + enjoyed Tosta Mista on a terrace overlooking the Atlantic. Our guide JC was perfect, we learned a lot about the nature reserve and life in Portugal. We would go again anytime.

Absolutely fantastic! We went at the end of October and weren’t sure we’d see any. We saw a super pod of Dolphins within 20minutes and were with them for an hour! It was incredible!
