Full description

Snorkel with whale sharks on this day trip from Cancun (from May to September). Take a boat out whale shark reserve in the waters surrounding Isla Contoy follow your naturalist or marine biologist guide for once-in-a-lifetime experience. Savor a delicious lunch and drinks on the boat. Be picked up early in the morning from your hotel in Cancun and hop aboard a comfortable van for the drive to Puerto Juarez (Marina Xtabay). Listen to an informative briefing to help you understand whale sharks and the area's ecosystems. Depart from Marina Xtabay on a boat and head towards the whale shark reserve in the waters surrounding Isla Contoy. Use high-quality snorkel gear to see whale sharks. Feel confident snorkeling with the help of your guide. Sit down to a filling lunch on the boat with stunning views of the coast of Isla Mujeres. Afterwards, cool off with a swim in the clear turquoise waters. Travel back to Marina Hacienda del Mar and transfer by van back to your accommodation.

Tour beginnt sehr früh, während andere erst auf dem Weg zu den Walhaien sind, fährt man selbst schon wieder zurück. Seekrankheit ist nicht zu unterschätzen, man wird aber toll versorgt. Abholung pünktlich, Guide war top. Kann man nur empfehlen, auch wenn man nur kurze Zeit mit den Walhaien im Wasser ist. Zwischenstopp auf Isla Mujeres ist entspannend, es bleibt etwas Zeit zum Schwimmen im türkisblauen Wasser. Auf Mittagessen haben wir wegen Übelkeit verzichtet, kann ich also nicht bewerten.

Ganz zum Ende der Walhai Saison hatten wir noch das Glück und haben Walhaie gesehen. Die Abholung im Hotel war unkompliziert, nach ca. 1,5 Stunden waren wir an der Marina in Cancun. Von dort ging es mit dem Boot zur Walhai-Area. Dort waren einige andere andere Boote mit uns, was uns aber nicht übermäßig gestört hat. Bei zwei Sprüngen haben wir jeweils einen Walhai gesehen - ein beeindruckendes Tier. Danach ging’s noch zum Schnorcheln ans Riff und es gab Cheviche, Guakamole und Nachos auf dem Boot. Großes Lob an Guide Veronica und das ganze Team an Board (inkl. Caption Frank) für den tollen Ausflug.

Super activité, très impressionnant à voir. On a eu la chance de voir beaucoup de requins baleines c’était incroyable. Ils filment avec une GoPro, et vous pouvez acheter la vidéo en fin de demi journée pour un prix assez cher mais qui vaut sincèrement le coup car inoubliable. Petite pause à la Playa Norte d’Isla Mujeres sur le retour, magnifique !
