We were told that we were approaching the very last days of the whale sharks being around the snorkeling site. They come by between May and mid September, so we were worried we wouldn’t be able to see any. But we found one whale shark that was swimming around even with a lot of people around. Because there are so many boats trying to get close to the sharks, you need to stay alert and safe. Also the boat ride to the snorkeling site is long and bumpy — we were told to purchase motion sickness pills. They saved our lives! Our guide was Lara and she was really cool and thoughtful throughout the entire excursion. She made sure we got in the water more than once and the boat crew was also very friendly and kind. Thank you Lara!

Unique experience - thanks to GYG!

Thanks to the dedicated GYG partner on site, we were able to meet the first whale sharks in the Caribbean Sea at the end of May 2019. The search was lengthy, but in the end it was more than worth it. The small boat kept in constant contact with other excursion boats which made the search easier. We received a comprehensive introduction and important information on how to deal with the whale sharks. In two groups we went into the water with an experienced diver who swam / snorkeled with us and the whale sharks. It was an incredibly great experience. The animals reacted relaxed and did not let us disturb their food intake. All four groups (8 participants) had the opportunity to accompany the animals under water twice. The note in the description "Take medicines for seasickness" should not be underestimated here. The sea is enormous and the long search drives the boat for a long time in the open sea. Our expectations were fully met!

    Great experience!

I make it short: the pick-up was at time and very comfy car. Very good tour guide that spoke perfectly German. Unfortunately the promised wet suits were all gone so we had to swim with the whales with a life vest which made it impossible to swim quick. However, our guide had reserved all during the bus tour. It was the rental company at the marinas fault. The snorkelling was an amazing adventure and we saw a lot of whale sharks. Also lunch and stop at Isla Mujeres were superb.
