Full description
On this 12-hour excursion, explore the Chichen Itza archaeological zone. With a specialist guide, you'll discover the important role that the city played in Mayan civilization. Today the site is still considered sacred by the Mayan people of the Yucatan. Like many of the cities of ancient Mexico, Chichen Itza was abandoned and its monuments became hidden in the jungle growth. Chichen Itza is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and has also been named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

Everything was great however, at the end of the tour, the bus left everyone to their hotel, and we had to go back to the meeting point and take our car and drive back to the hotel back. If the lady on the phone had informed us about this, we would never go to the meeting point by car, and use taxi instead. And when we asked the tour guide Marco, if they picked everyone up from their hotel too, he said yes. So, it costed us a lot of time and caused stress. We should have been informed about this. Anyway, the tour guide Marco was very fun and informative, he explained everything in Chichen Itza, and we can honestly say that Chichen Itza was stunning. We went to Valladolid only for restrooms abd saw the town like 5-10 mins. The cenote was also nice, but the lunch was not very good. But because of Chichen Itza, we definetely recommend a tour. And it is better if you ask about your pick up and leaving.

95% of the people who went along spoke Spanish and were couples. Spanish was used >50% of the time. Our guide spoke good English but book an English tour if you think it's not worth your time. The Mayan history, culture and knowledge was well explained. I prefer having time to explore around than having our guide to explain everything. It's also useful to read/ watch more before you go to Chichen Itza to get the most out of the visit. Souvenirs were overpriced. What I bought was charged 30% higher than shops in Playa. You can take it as donation to local community. The visit to Valladolid should be skipped or lengthened. You can't do much in 20 minutes. The Cenote Ik Kul was beautiful. An hour was not enough. We were always in a hurry. It was good value for money. I visited chichen itza with a friend a week later and it costed each of us more than the tour price for car rental, gas, parking, and admission altogether. Impressive!
