Full description

Dive into Mayan culture on a guided day trip with optional hotel transfers from Cancún or Riviera Maya to Chichén Itzá, named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World for being one of the world's best-preserved ancient cities. Enjoy a Mexican buffet and tequila tasting, and stop at Valladolid and a cenote. Stop by the charming town of Valladolid, famed for the ornate, 16th-century Convent of San Bernardino of Siena and the baroque San Gervasio Cathedral. Wander the cobblestone streets, take photos, and find souvenirs. Once at Chichén Itzá, follow the guide while learning all about the most important buildings. From the awe-inspiring Pyramid of Kukulcan to the ruins that once housed tens of thousands of Mayans, the Pyramid of El Castillo or El Caracol, this visit is filled with rarely heard stories, incredible details, and stunning photo opportunities. Discover why the huge city played such an important role from the Late Classic period (600 AD) into the early part of the Post Classic period (1200 AD), and why it remained a huge center of pilgrimage. After your Chichén Itzá adventure, enjoy a tequila tasting and an authentic Mexican buffet lunch At this point, the fun is just getting started as no visit to the area would be complete without a stop by a cenote, a refreshing, enchanting underground sinkhole, sacred to the Mayan people before returning to your starting point.

Early pick up (on time) and a long journey before tour starts but worth every minute. Marcela was great. Very knowledgeable about the area and each of the sights and kept the tour going efficiently but with plenty of time at each stop. First stop was Valladolid - a traditional Mayan town. We were fortunate to be able to stop and have time in the town. Followed by a traditional lunch Then onto Chichen Iza which lives up to its reputation as one of the 7 wonders of the new world. Plenty of time for craft shopping too. Then we went on to the Cenote for a swim which was enjoyed by many. Tequila tasting was also part of the day. Yes you might feel obliged to buy after tasting… but why not… your on holiday and it’s a reminder of the experience. Great value for money trip with memories to last a lifetime

Overall, it was a good and fun day trip. The tour guide (Frank) was very knowledgeable and friendly and the bus itself was very comfortable. We started very early (5am) and I expected that we would be at Chichen Itza before it gets really busy but somehow we went to Valladolid first and when we got to Chichen Itza, it was already very crowded and very hot. I wished we went straight to Chichen Itza or skipped Valladolid altogether. The stop at the cenote was a much needed relief from the very hot day though. The buffet food was so-so.
