Manatees are super cute large animals and experience was very cool. In general I would recommend. Please keep in mind that you spend only around 15-20 min with animals feeding them lettuce, cannot swim with them, cannot use snorkeling equipment, cannot take your own pictures or videos in water. At the same time you still can see dolphins, sea lions, water seals and pelicans from around 10 meters. Food is ok. Transport is nice, in smaller boats you can see wild turtles and wild dolphins on the way. For £50 it was worth it.

One of the best activities I have ever done in my life. My partner and I chose the manatee encounter and it was amazing. While the dolphin tour did look great so little people chose to do the manatee encounter, it ended up just being us two, which made it feel very personal and special and our guide was great. Would 100% recommend and the food was good as well. Only one thing that wasn’t great was the price of the photos they are a bit on the steep side but was worth it for an amazing day.

Full description

Enjoy a manatee encounter program on Isla Mujeres, with round-trip ferry transportation from Cancún. Interact with your new friends in a relaxed setting, and enjoy the facilities of the Dolphin Discovery center during the afternoon.


Board the ferry at Playa Langosta in Cancún and sail to Isla Mujeres. Upon arrival, proceed to the Dolphin Discovery center for your encounter. Meet your specialist instructor who will provide you with interesting facts about these gentle giants.


Get ready to meet your new friend in the water, where the manatee will swim by you so you can caress it. Then, stretch your arms wide and give it the biggest hug you can, followed by an adorable kiss. You can also give your buddy some tasty food snacks.


Enjoy the rest of the day by the swimming pools, with plenty of time to soak up the sun. Savor a delicious buffet and have some soft drink beverages in the company of your family and friends. Board the ferry in the early evening to return to Playa Langosta in Cancún.

For the ferry departure from Cancún, there is one departure at 9:00 AM from Playa Langosta (located in Boulevard Kukulcan). Please arrive 30 minutes early to check check-in and receive your identification bracelet. You will find the check-in point by following the signs for Dolphin Discovery which are displayed. Dolphin Discovery Isla Mujeres is located at Camino Sac Bajo Lote 26 (antes 96 al 102) Fraccionamiento Laguna Mar.

The encounter with the manatees was fantastic! The staff went out of their way to help. We were able to swim and see fish, stingrays and a shark. The pictures turned out well. We took a taxi and explored the rest of the island. Overall a great day
