It was a great experience, however it could be much better in terms of information and organisation. In the initial explanation we were informed that we will see banners to show us the way. That was not the case, you have to go directly to the dock. If you want pictures the price is super high 150$ for 2 people and you need to decide immediately when before you board the boat. The staff is super friendly, but they gave lengthy explanations in Spanish and almost no info in English. 95% if the information is not translated so if you do not speak Spanish you are left in the dark. The tour includes optionally a trip to the city center of the island which was great. I suggest booking the dolphin experience as early as possible so that you can have lunch, relax and then go to the city center. Overall great experience!

Full description

Interact with friendly dolphins at the Dolphin Discovery center on Isla Mujeres, departing from Playa Langosta in Cancún. Suitable for all ages, this program is suitable for non-swimmers. After you spend some time with your new friend enjoy a hearty buffet lunch with soft drinks service.


Board the ferry at Playa Langosta in Cancún and sail to Isla Mujeres. Upon arrival, proceed to the Dolphin Discovery center where you will meet your marine mammal specialist who will guide you through the experience.


Next, proceed to the underwater platform, which you will be standing on at all times, so the dolphin can come and meet you. Your specialist instructor will teach you some interesting facts about dolphins, their diet, and their behavior. Also, hear about nursing programs taking place at the center.

After your encounter, enjoy the rest of the day at the center by taking a dip in one of the pools, or with some sunbathing. Enjoy a delicious buffet and sip on some soft drinks from onsite. After relaxing in the afternoon, board the ferry back to Cancún in the late afternoon.

For the ferry departure from Cancún, there is one departure at 9:00 AM from Playa Langosta (located in Boulevard Kukulcan). Please arrive 30 minutes early to check check-in and receive your identification bracelet. You will find the check-in point by following the signs for Dolphin Discovery which are displayed. Dolphin Discovery Isla Mujeres is located at Camino Sac Bajo Lote 26 (antes 96 al 102) Fraccionamiento Laguna Mar.

Know before you go

  • This activity will take place on Isla Mujeres, with a free ferry service departing from Playa Langosta in Cancún at 9:00 AM and returning at 5:30 PM
  • Infants 1-5 years old are free of charge accompanied by a paying adult (2 adults per child)
  • Children over 3.3 ft and up to 3.9 ft must be accompanied by two paying adults (2 adults per child)
  • Children over 3.9 ft up to 4.6 ft must be accompanied by a paying adult (1 adult per child)
  • Children over 4.6 ft will be allowed to participate alone by paying the adult rate
  • Currently, US dollars are not accepted in cash at the facility. Mexican pesos are accepted

They could have explained it a lot better and had guides to tell you what to do and where to go once you get to the island we missed our time to get in with the dolphins and we had to wait the next available time slot which caused us to not be able to take a ferry to the main part of the island
