What to Expect
You will depart from Cancun and travel to the pre-hispanic city of Chichen Itza, one of the main capitals and cultural sites of the Mayan culture. Your guide will explain the historical significance of all of the most important temples of this ancient city during the tour before leaving you to enjoy Chichen Itza at your own pace. Admire the Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Temple of the Warriors, The Ball Court, The Observatory, The Nunnery and beautifully conserved smaller temples in their vicinity. Take pictures. Upon your walking return to the Mayaland Resort, take time to enjoy our pools and facilities, meant to compliment your Chichen Itza Experience in a unique way. Enjoy a buffet lunch at the Mayaland Hotel.
From Chichen Itza you travel west to Uxmal, considered as the most beautiful and spectacular site of the ancient Mayan culture, built in the ornate Puuc architectural style (Puuc is the Mayan name given to a series of low-lying hills related to a unique culture and architecture). The check in will be performed at the beautiful Hotel Hacienda Uxmal, located in the proximity of the site, at walking distance. Favorite of distinguished personalities and royalty as Queen Elizabeth, Indira Gandhi, among others.
At night, a feast for your eyes and ears await you at the light and sound show. The venue is the Nunnery Quadrangle and, as you sit there under the stars, you'll listen to the stories and legends related to the rise and fall of Uxmal while the temples and pyramids of the ancient city are gradually revealed in all their glory.
After the show, you will enjoy a delicious dinner served at the Lodge at Uxmal before you turning in for the night, in an absolute peaceful atmosphere under the night of the Maya.
The second adventure-filled day starts off with a delicious breakfast while you enjoy the beautiful vegetation and the whistles of colorful birds by the tropical premises of the hotel. After that, you will be conducted for the guide to explore the pre-Hispanic city of Uxmal in a small-group tour. Set among rolling hills, this site is steeped in mystery. The Governor's Palace, The Pyramid of the Soothsayer and the Nun’s Quadrangle are just some of the buildings that will capture your attention for its beauty and décor.
After visiting Uxmal, you set off for Merida, stopping at the Yaxcopoil Hacienda on the way that dates back to the 17th century. The Hacienda represents the history of three great periods in the Yucatan and the boom years of henequen cultivation during the late 19th and early 20th century. The place is now a museum showcasing sisal manufacture, once the Yucatan's principal industry.
Upon arrival in Merida you will take a sightseeing City Tour, pointing out important sites of interest. Merida was founded in 1542 on the site of a Mayan city called T'ho, Merida is delightful. Its bustling center boasts colonial churches and mansions as well as Paseo de Montejo. This tree-lined avenue is famous for its beautiful French-style residences, built at the turn of the century when the henequen industry was at its peak.
You'll have plenty of time to explore the city center, browse the shops and craft markets and try the traditional Yucatan cuisine during lunch.
Mid-afternoon departure for Cancun you will proceed to drop you off at your hotel so that you can relax and enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Know Before You Go
You may visit, for free, the sacred Xtoloc Cenote, located on the resorts' grounds. No swimming permitted. Definitely an important element of the history of this holy Mayan city.
