Full description

In this tour, your guide will give you an in-depth tour of Chichen Itza. Listen as they provide background information to help you better understand the history of this place. End the tour with lunch at a local restaurant.

Beat the crowds and the heat by arriving early in the morning at the Chichen Itza Archeological Site. Be the first to enter this Wonder of the World and take amazing pictures with the place almost completely to yourself.

Learn how this large city played an important role in Mayan civilization from around 600 AD to 1200 AD and remained a center of worship and pilgrimage until the arrival of the Spaniards. The site was abandoned and its ruins were eventually hidden by the jungle.

In between the tour, enjoy a typical Mexican buffet lunch at a local family-run restaurant. Swimming at the Saamal Cenote (entry included) and a visit to Valladolid are also on the itinerary.

Overall experience was good. Marco from Amigo tours was a great guide. Knowledge of Chichen Itzá was extensive, lunch was decent and the cenote was refreshing. Only negative aspect of the trip was transportation. Tour advertised 6:00am departure but the evening before we were told we had to meet at 4:30am. Recommend persons staying in Playa Del Carmen find your companies that don’t shuttle (4 1/2 hrs extra) people to Cancun for the tour. Once on the larger bus, the stench from the “bano” was rancid.

The early start was worth it to miss the heat and the crowds. We were picked up from Playa and got a separate mini bus back to speed up the drop offs so were back in our hotel for 6.30pm Our guides Rodrigo & Danielo (Danny Devito) were amazing. Special shout-out to Rodrigo who was incredibly knowledgeable and shared his passion and stories with us. We learnt a lot so thank you so much for this! The cenote was beautiful too and we had the perfect amount of time to chill and swim in the afternoon before heading back. Only criticism is that the trip no longer stops at Valladolid - Get your guide need to update the description as this is still included in the itinerary Overall we had an amazing day and would definitely recommend this tour!

Rodrigo was an excellent tour guide who provided a lot of detailed information on Chichén Itza. It was very informative, but also very laid back. I would definitely recommend his day trip to anyone who wants to see more of Mexico, eat good food, and jump into a cenote. Thanks for a day well spent!
