Full description

Visit the protected archaeological site of Chichen Itza on a guided tour. Swim in a sacred Mayan cenote to cool down from the Mexican heat. At the end, enjoy a typical Mexican buffet lunch. Enjoy the tranquility of your early-morning visit to Chichen Itza before the crowds arrive. Learn how this large pre-Colombian city played an important role in Mayan civilization from around A.D. 600 to 1200 and remained a center of worship and pilgrimage until the arrival of the Spanish. Like many of ancient Mexico’s cities, the site was abandoned, and its ruins were hidden by jungle. Learn how archaeologists discovered and unearthed the site, gaining UNESCO protection and considered today one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Recharge your energies with a typical Mexican buffet lunch before heading to the Cenote. Enjoy the experience of swimming in a Mayan Cenote and have the opportunity to do a Tequila Tasting in this magical environment.

Wonderful experience; really worth it, our tour with Amigo Tours was incredible; the pick up is quite early but belive me is worth it , you get to see the beauty of Chicken itza early in the morning while listening to the sounds of nature around you ; our guide Marco was ...wow ...passionate, knowledgeable, kind , funny...I mean all the qualities you want to see in someone guiding you somewhere, belive me this guy has it , his passion for the Mayan culture is unbelievable; the second part of the activity the Cenote again ....simply incredible, you get to swim with the fish and the turtles, don't worry even if you're not the greatest swimmer like I am you'll be okay , you get a life vest which is mandatory and costs 50 mexican pesos , the lunch was okay plenty of options, obviously the tacos were the best, overall was a wonderful experience which I would strongly recommend to anyone passionate about history and likes to think outside the box ,once again most of the credit goes to Marco !

The overall trip was amazing. The guide at Chichen Itza (Rodrigo) was the best guide I have ever had. The transportation was great and very comfortable. It is worth getting up early to beat the crowds and heat. Esther was also a great facilitator and guide. I wish the sound system on the bus was better since I missed portions of what she said. My only criticism is that the Cenote portion of the tour is not really Mayan village. It is more of a tourist trap. I wish there was an option to switch out this portion for more time at Chichen Itza.
