Full description
Hardly any other has influenced Lanzarote so much as the artist César Manrique. He was a painter, architect, sculptor, designer, and environmentalist. His vision was a symbiosis of architecture and nature. Start the tour in his footsteps with a visit to the Monumento al Campensino, a monument to peasant dedicated to the hard-working rural population. See the traditional craftsmanship of the Canary Islands in the small museum and marvel at the impressive restaurant in the foothills of a lava field. Continue on into the Valley of a Thousand Palms to the Mirador del Rio. Enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Lanzarote and one of the most representative architectural creations of César Manrique that unites art and nature. Visit the nearby cave, Jameos del Agua part of a 7-kilometer-long lava tube, which was created by the eruption of Monte Corona around 8000 years ago. Discover Jameos del Agua, a portion of which was artistically designed by César Manrique. Here you will find a restaurant, a concert hall, and a small lake with direct access to the sea where small, white blind crabs live. At the end of the tour you will drive to the cactus garden “Jardin de Cactus”. Here you will find more than 1100 different species of plants from around the world spread across 5000 square meters. On the way back you will visit the Fundación César Manrique in the artist’s former residence. See some of his works of art and discover how the artist worked. A large part of the complex is nestled in the foothills of the longest lava flow of the Canary Islands, with unusual structures running through the entire house.

    The best tour

A fantastic tour to discover César Manrique. A man who lived to the last in symbiosis with nature. Thanks to this tour I loved the island of Lanzarote which until now did not seem so particular to me. I have small suggestions: you could perhaps avoid all the time spent gathering the various people and perhaps adding for everyone the visit to jameos del aqua and the cueva de los verdes. For example, I would have liked to see them both, but I was forced to choose one. And then I think you should have more time to visit the César Manrique fundación.

Great insights and views and impressive architecture

A very well organized tour with lots of interesting stops! Advantage: No need to look for a parking space and no queuing at the cash desk. Minor disadvantage: You have to be aware that up to 80 people get on and off at every stop .... and that some guests do not place great value on punctuality. Otherwise great and recommended!

    Very interesting day trip

With a very competent tour guide and a safe bus driver, we did a varied day tour. All destinations were explained in advance on the bus and then there was enough time to have a look at the individual buildings, the cactus garden and the caves or to get an overview in the house of the Manrique Foundation. We will visit this former house in more detail privately. We can definitely recommend the trip. You can also see a lot of the impressive landscape of Lanzarote.
