In this guided tour you will be able to enjoy nature in perfect combination with the Mayan sites. You will know Calakmul, the first Mixed Patrimony of Mexico; the most important city of the classic Mayan period, seat of the powerful Kaan dynasty, strategically located in the heart of the largest tropical forest in the country. In addition, we will go hiking and bird watching to discover and contemplate the flora and fauna of the region such as monkeys, ocellated turkeys and with a bit of luck, the mythical jaguar. As a plus, we will visit the archaeological site of Balamkú, where you will discover the most spectacular and complete frieze in the Mayan world.

Our guide Axel Urízar took great care of me and my sister. He made sure all our needs were met so we could relax and enjoy our experience to Calakamul Bio Sphere. Axel was very knowledgeable about Mayan History and the Natural History of the area not just within the borders of Mexico. Axel made sure we had a day we will never forget and we learned so much as well. We both had lots of fun and were blown away by the experience. He took some great photographs for us as well. Pointed out wild life we would have missed including an ocelot, howler and spider monkeys, toucans and woodpeckers to name a few. Well worth the drive.
