Excellent walk! Beautiful views. It is not challenging, more like an easy stroll. I bought an entry ticket only, I didn't think a guide was necessary - the guided walks are much slower and take longer. You can easily read the information online that the guides talk about. Please note several important points! You must allow an extra hour before the entry time on your ticket in order to take a shuttle bus to a drop off point, as the gate to the walk is not accessible from the road. Everyone then walks 1.5km through a tunnel and down a path to the official entry gate where you must be for the time marked on your ticket. Here you will get. helmet and a safety talk. I would recommend reading the travel blog "Along dusty roads". I found valuable information on there - otherwise I would have been lost! I arrived by rental car, parked at the end point of the caminito and took the shuttle bus to the starting drop off point. Read the dusty roads blog (or any travel blog!) so you are prepared!

Full description

Wander along the 8-kilometer path of the Caminito del Rey in Malaga province with this entry ticket. The path, which was once considered the most dangerous in the world, has now been restored and is completely safe, but retains the 100-meter-high walkways that make it so popular with hikers.

Fall in love with the breathtaking cliff faces and the fascinating history of the path. Reach highs of 400 meters above ground and lows of just 10 meters. Watch as the wild waters of the Guadalhorce river rush below you. The path was originally formed as a railway track in the 19th century. Declared by the Junta de Andalucía as a Natural Area in 1989, it had already been classified as a Special Protection Area for Birds in 1987 and, since 2006, it is part of the Andalusia-Morocco Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean. The site has been added to the list of Places of Community Importance in the Mediterranean Biogeographic Region.

Arrive at the Visitor Center parking lot at least 1 hour before your visit starts. Park and take the shuttle bus to the entrance, which costs €2.50—not included in your ticket. Note: The bus is not operated by Caminito del Rey. The Visitor Center parking is indicated on the map as the meeting point. Ticket validation and your visit occur at the shuttle bus's final stop. If arriving by public transport, you must also take this shuttle bus and proceed to the last stop for entry.

  • Caminito del Rey is a one-way walkway. Your tour starts at the north entrance (Ardales) and ends at the south entrance, in El Chorro town. A shuttle bus will take you to the starting point, the Visitors' reception center
  • Buses leave every half hour and cost €2.50 per person (cash). Credit cards are not accepted.
  • You can take a small backpack with hiking food with you
  • There are a few rest areas along the way where you can have a picnic
