Full description
Take a guided walking tour that will make the city come alive. Cambridge is one of the most attractive cities in Britain, with a huge array of building styles and materials. The oldest building is St Benet's church which dates from the early 11th century and was built by the Saxon townspeople. Visit the historic Eagle pub which was acquired by Corpus Christi college in 1488. On the ceiling of the famous Royal Air Force bar are the serial numbers of 123 squadrons written in candle light by young airmen in World War II. Nearby is the Old Cavendish Laboratory, where Cambridge scientists changed our understanding of the physical world and pushed the boundaries of our knowledge. The electron, the proton, the neutron and the structure of DNA were all discovered there.  The 31 Cambridge Colleges offer a rich variety of buildings. You will see a good spread of them, depending on which route you choose (the tour content is adjusted to meet the interests and needs of the client). The most famous building is the magnificent King's College chapel which dominates the city skyline. You will also see other medieveal colleges such as Trinity College, St John's, Clare, Corpus Christi, Pembroke, Queens', St Catherine's and Gonville and Caius. They all have their stories, traditions, and famous names. Several colleges allow visitors to enter their grounds and buildings, though there is often an entry fee. Only Cambridge Green Badge guides are allowed to take groups inside these colleges. The supplier can make all the required bookings.  Enjoy a walk down to the River Cam and see the much-photographed Mathematical Bridge and the many people enjoying a punt tour on the River Cam. Your guide can provide details of punting and of the many other attractions has to offer such as its eight University run museums.

Tony the tour guide...one word - EXCELLENT! He is very experienced, is full of fun quirky facts about the city, he doesn’t bombard with lots of boring dates. He mixes history facts with interesting stories about students who have studied in Cambridge’s colleges. He points out the hidden gems in city, the things that are written into Cambridge’s architecture. He is passionate about what he does. Well worth the money. Thanks :-)
