This activity takes place in Caloura, a location known for its microclimate, fertile soil and wonderful coastal views, in the central-southern part of the island of São Miguel, which is approximately 20 minutes by car from the city of Ponta Delgada. Choose between a private or a shared tour, as well as if you want a hotel pickup and drop-off transfer or if you would rather meet your guide at the meeting point - the choices are yours. When we arrive, we will proceed with the distribution of equipment and the safety briefing. When ready, we will start our activity with a short walk along the coast through the irregular volcanic stones resulting from lava flows. Challenge yourself on this adventure when exploring some caves, jumping and diving into the ocean, enjoying natural pools and inland bays. You can expect several jumps between 1 and 8 metres (some optional). Explore the blue scenery of the Atlantic Ocean, discovering and admiring the marine biodiversity of this place. The trail start in the parish of Água D’Alto, on the south coast of São Miguel Island, approximately 25 minutes by car from the city of Ponta Delgada. Begin the route with an ascent, passing through various pastures, leading you to areas where you can observe different types of vegetation, such as cryptomeria and heather. Along the trail, enjoy panoramic views of the first village on São Miguel Island, Vila Franca do Campo, well-known for its islet. Then you will pass the water levada, with its beautiful reflections of vegetation, used from ancient times to the present day to transport water. Marvel at untouched nature, majestic mountains, and endemic vegetation, such as heather, until you reach the Lagoa do Fogo. Lunch will be by the lake shores, allowing you to appreciate the crystal-clear water of one of Portugal’s natural reserves. On the return, experience a steep descent, during which you can admire hydrangeas and enjoy a view of the island’s south coast. Finish the day by relaxing in a calm spot or by the seaside. Depending on weather conditions, group skills, and participants interests, the guide may suggest various places to visit, including beaches, the Caloura locality, Vila Franca do Campo, or other spots where you can opt for a refreshing or hot drink. This activity starts and ends on the north coast of the island, near the famous Areal de Santa Bárbara beach in the town of Ribeira Grande ( approximately 20 minutes by car from Ponta Delgada). At the starting point, we conduct a safety briefing and a demonstration of how to use the electric bicycle and all its functions, which takes about 15 minutes, and then distribute the equipment. Once we finish, we are ready to embark on a memorable adventure! We begin by heading directly to the ‘heart’ of Ribeira Grande, where we will have the opportunity to pass through some of the parishes in this municipality. We will learn the history, culture, and traditions manifested in geosites such as the ‘Fontanário da Ribeira Seca‘, a result of a volcanic eruption whose lava flows buried part of the parish of Ribeira Seca. We also observe the architecture of many ancient buildings, as the Espírito Santo Church, the building Paços do Concelho and the Bridge Oito Arcos. We continue our adventure surrounded by nature and accompanied by the sound of water from various springs that lead us to the Fajã do Redondo Dam. At Caldeiras da Ribeira Grande, we explore the volcanic activity area, where we find hot water springs used by the spa and an area used for cooking “cozido” and other local dishes which are slowly cooked by natural heat. Moving on to our next stop, the Coroa da Mata Viewpoint, we travel along secondary paths surrounded by a variety of flowers and trees, enjoying panoramic views. We continue to explore the lush landscapes resulting from volcanic eruptions on the north coast of the island, passing by the Santa Iria Viewpoint, the Santa Iria port, and the Cintrão point where the lighthouse is located. We will return along a dirt path along the coast, observing the unforgettable landscape until we are back on the city streets. Note: A minimum height of 1.50 cm / 5 feet 11 inches is required to use the electric bicycle.

This activity starts and ends in the village of Sete Cidades, one of the places with the most beautiful natural landscapes on the west side of the island of São Miguel (approximately 30 minutes by car from the city of Ponta Delgada). At the starting point, we conduct a safety briefing and a demonstration of how to use the electric bicycle and all its functions, which takes about 15 minutes, and then distribute the equipment. Once we finish, we are ready to embark on a memorable adventure! To start, we will across over the bridge that divides the Blue and the Green lakes, and enjoy the lakeside view going to the Peninsula and the peaceful picnic area of Baía do Silencio (“Bay of Silence“). Heading back to the bridge along easy dirt tracks, get ready for a long and steep ascent on the main road, along which you can stop at the viewpoints of Lagoa de Santiago (“Santiago Lake“) and Cerrado das Freiras (“Nuns Haven”). We continue onwards and upwards, till finally reaching the Viewpoint of Vista do Rei (“Kings’ View“) for a panoramic view of the Blue and Green Lakes below as well as the now-abandoned “Monte Palace” hotel. Then, a more adventurous trail that takes us along along Cumeeira Pequena (“Small Summit Rim“). Passing the Lomba do Vasco Viewpoint we will finish the tour descending to the heart of the village of Sete Cidades, passing by the Church Matriz de São Nicolau, leading us back to the start point. On the way back, we will return along the north side of the island, where we will visit several tourist places especially in the north side of the island, where we also have a visit inside of the tea factory and other viewpoints in the way back to Ponta Delgada.
