What to Expect
At 9:00 you will meet your tour guide in your hotel in Cairo and then start your tour in the Sayiada Zeinab old district, where you will visit Beit El Sennari (Sennari house) which was built in 1794 by Ibrahim Katkhuda El-Sennari, a Sudanese occultist. In 1798, Napoleon invaded Egypt, bringing with him an army of scientists, scholars and artists to establish a French culture base. This house was used to house many of the French artists and scholars at the time, and became the center of the French study of Egypt. It now houses a collection of the best and most interesting traditional crafts workshops.
After Beit El Sennari you will move to Giza city, near the pyramids, where you will visit another collection of workshops and have a chance to shop for Egyptian souvenirs. Start by visiting the papyrus making workshop, where you will learn about the making of the papyrus the way that the ancient Egyptians made it, and write you own name in hieroglyphic inscription on a papyrus paper. Then you will move to visit the blowing glass workshop to try blowing glass yourself. Next door is the perfect place to shop for pure essential oils. Visit a handmade carpet workshop and learn about making handmade carpets from different materials, such as camel wool and silk, and see the different manual tools using for making these carpets. Then pay a visit to the Egyptian cotton clothes and customs shop, where you can buy the best quality Egyptian cotton bed sheets and fabrics. End the shopping tour in Giza at the jewelry shop .
After Giza you will stop for lunch in a nice Nile-view restaurant, then end the tour at old medieval Cairo by making a nice walking guided tour at old Cairo local Souqs (markets) and Khayammyia (Tent making market). Finally, you'll will be transferred back to your hotel.
