What to Expect
Your tour guide will be glad to pick you up from your hotel and accompany you on an unforgettable full-day tour to the Pyramids of Giza to visit the great pyramid known as the pyramid of Cheops “Khufu”.
Your private tour begins with a fascinating introduction to each of the three Giza pyramids : Khufu, Khafre, and Menakaure. You will have free time to enter one of the pyramids (at an additional cost), though your guide is not permitted to enter with you.
Proceed with a short drive to the city side of the plateau and find yourself standing at the feet of the sphinx, the enigmatic symbol of Egypt. Also in Giza you may visit the solar boat museum (at an additional cost), home to the remarkably well preserved funerary boat of Khufu.
Continue with your private tour to the famous Egyptian Museum which houses 165,000 Egyptian artifacts. The priceless treasures of King Tutankhamon are the highlight. His six gilded coffins dominate the main hall, while his magnificent death mask is the star attraction. Your guide will introduce you to the museum’s most important pieces before you have free time to explore at your leisure.
Continue to old Cairo or Coptic Cairo which is unique area that has a concentration of christian churches that date from the centuries between the decline of the Pharaonic religion and the arrival of Islam when Egypt had a christian majority. Coptic Cairo is largely built around the fort of Babylon and upon the remains of it's walls.
There are also 20 churches here that date back to the early christian era. The most remarkable is the hanging church, or the church of the virgin Mary, built in 690 A.D and situated on two bastions of the roman fortress.
The churches of St. Sergius (Abu Serga) dating back to the 4th century, it is traditionally believed to have been built on the spot where the holy family, Joseph, Mary, and the infant Jesus Christ, rested at the end of their journey into Egypt. They may have lived here while Joseph worked at the fortress.
Continue to saint Barbara church, dating back to the 5th or 6th century AD. End your tour at the Ben Ezra synagogue, located on the site where baby Moses was found.
At the end of the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel.
