Full description
Alexandria has so much to see, feel, eat and buy – fit in as much of it as possible on this day tour from Cairo. Start your day trip to Alexandria with pick-up from your accommodation in a comfortable vehicle. The first stop on this full-day tour will be a visit to the Library of Alexandria, the biggest library in the world. Now housing 8 million books, you can visit its open court to see the statues of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy the First keeping watch over the library.    The car will then whisk you off to the Church of St. Mark, the oldest church in Africa. Then, continue on to the old downtown of Alexandria where you can walk through traditional markets where everything and anything is sold. Admire the downtown’s Baroque designs and Italian- and French-style properties. If you choose, have lunch in a famous restaurant called “Mohamed Ahmed’s” – the Queen of Spain has eaten here! Take a break in a coffee shop or shisha café before continuing on with your tour.   Continue your Alexandria adventure in the afternoon with a packed itinerary of sights. See the city’s oldest market area which contains both the women’s markets and the most spectacular gold market where everyone buys their wedding jewelry. See the prettiest and largest mosque in the city, the Abbo Elabbas Mosque, and the ancient fun-fair located just outside of it where children still play. Opposite is the corniche and old harbour where you can see fishing boats and traditional fishers making nets. From here, walk 5 minutes to see the Quaitbay castle. See Memorial of the Unknown Soldier, and the beautiful coastline on the way to the Montaza Palace and Gardens (also known as the Love Garden for its popularity with couples!). All of these will make for excellent photo opportunities, so don't forget your camera. Finally, cross over the modern Bridge of Stanley before travelling in comfort back to your hotel.

Alexandria is a city worth visiting. Especially if you stay in Cairo and you want to escape a little bit from the chaotic atmosphere there! The ride to/from Alexandria with the mini van was really nice and even though it takes about 3 hours! Our guide, Karim, was super at his duty, helpful and with a great sense of humor! He showed us around, made us feel comfortable from the very first minute and enjoy the tour to the maximum! Last but not least, we took lunch in a nice restaurant by the sea with a nice view! The quality of the food was really good!

We had a lovely tour of Alexandria guided by Rasha, who always provided details and insights about all the places we visited in our itinerary. She was very flexible and responsive to our needs and she took us to a nice restaurant at sea side where we had a great launch with a beatiful sea view.

Our driver for the day was awesome and our guide Eriny was great, patient, answering all of our question. The tour was great minus one thing. When we were in the shop where you can buy Egyptian Papyrus and perfume we had a guy who first told us everything about thoose two products and then of course try to sell them to us. Now I was planning to buy them anyway at some point so I just did it there so I don't have to think about it later. But my friend didn't like them so she didn't wanna buy them. The guy was very rude to her in a sense of why you don't wanna buy, you won't find a better deal, I'll give you this and this and this. Anyway almost forcing her to buy it and being upset she didn't which made her feel very uncorfotable. Except that we had an amazing day :)
