What to Expect
This full-day excursion to Cairo from Sharm el Sheikh begins with an early morning departure from Sharm to make the most of your Cairo visit. You will go to the Egyptian Museum, Giza Pyramids, and Great Sphinx, as well as get the chance to shop at the Khan el Khalili Bazaar, and enjoy a lunch on the River Nile.

On arrival in Cairo an Egyptologist guide will take you to the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square. The neo-classical building was designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon and contains more than 120,000 masterpieces, ranging from the pre-dynastic to the Pharaonic and Greco-Roman periods. Among its most famous collections are the treasures of King Tutankhamen.

After a break for lunch on the Nile River, drive to the Great Pyramids of Giza. Constructed over a 20-year period, concluding around 2,560 BC, at the time they were the tallest man-made structure in the world, remaining so for more than 3,800 years. Your guide will answer any questions you might have, and will provide a fascinating narrative as you explore the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos. For an additional fee, you can opt to visit inside one of the pyramids.

Next, go to the mysterious Great Sphinx. Gaze at the mythological creature, formed of a lion’s body and a human head stretching more than 240 feet (73 meters) long and 65 feet (20 meters) high.

Afterwards you can enjoy some time to shop at the Khan el Khalili Bazaar in central Cairo. Stroll through the old market and try your bargaining skills as you search for gifts and souvenirs in the maze of alleys.

You will be transferred back to Sharm el Sheikh in the evening, crossing through the desert landscape on the approximate 6-hour drive.
