Best things to do in Cairo
You can't swing a hookah in Cairo without striking archeological treasure! "The City of a Thousand Minarets" boasts not only stunning Ottoman mosques, but ancient wonders and a clash of modern and traditional cultures. Here's what to see.
1. Pyramid of Djoser
Book a day trip to this stepped tomb built by the earliest known architect, Imhotep. The Pyramid of Djoser has survived over 4 millenia, though all that remains of the Pharoah Djoser is his left foot!
2. Egyptian Museum of Antiquities
The museum boasts the world's largest collection of Egyptian antiquities, including Tutankhamen's solid gold death mask. Expect strict security measures, but it's truly a must-see!
3. Al-Azhar Park
Finished in 2005, it's already hard to imagine how the site of the breathtaking Al-Azhar Park was once a mountain of garbage accumulated over five centuries!
4. Al-Azhar Mosque
For a tour of Cairo's religious life and history, there's no better place to start than at the city's oldest mosque. Al-Azhar Mosque was built in 970AD and it's also home to the world's first university!
5. Khan Al-Khalili
Khan Al-Khalili,Cairo's most prominent souk (market), is as old as the Egyptian capital itself, and its economic heart still beats with tourists and locals alike!
6. Mosque of Muhammad Ali
Crowning its citadel is Cairo's most prominent landmark. Not only is the stunning Mosque of Muhammad Ali one of the best places to visit, it offers greats views of the city too.
7. Giza Necropolis
Though home to two of Cairo's most famous icons – the Great Pyramids and Sphinx – the Necropolis' best attraction might actually be the fascinating ancient workers' village.
Planning Your Visit
When to go?
The best time to visit Cairo is from October through to May, when the weather isn't insufferably hot. Hotels are cheaper during its scorching summer, but don't settle for a place without air conditioning and a pool!
How many days?
Book 3 or 4 days minimum just for sightseeing, but a full week is recommended for archeological day trips, or simply to uncover the many sides of Cairo's vibrant culture.

What people are saying about Cairo
This is a fantastic tour. You get to visit pyramids at Giza, Dahshur and Saqqara and understand their connections. It’s a bit of a long day but worth it. The tour guide on the other hand not so great. The information on the tour is very specific: you go to 3 sights to visit pyramids but she kept trying to push other places and making it sound as if they were also tours but they were just shops (makes me wonder if she has a deal with them). If the guide offers to take you to a papyrus institute, aromatic oil shop or a hieroglyph necklace shop, say NO cause they will take time from your visit to one of the sights (it happened to me, I was rushed at one of the pyramids). Other than that, great day - I was the only one that booked the shared tour on that day so in the end I had a private tour.
Perfect tour! Tour guide Mr. Maged was incredible, very passionate and informative. He told us so many important information that we couldn't find it anywhere. He was very attentive to details. Very proffesional and helpful! The driver Mr. Mohammed was fluent in English, very kind & helpful aswell. Perfect communication with the all the staff members via What's Up. Next day we get a tour to Cairo museum which was wonderful aswell. Definetely recommend this company to everyone! Hope to come back again one day and see you guys! Greeting from Lithuania!
Klare Empfehlung.
Ahmed was the perfect host during our dinner on the Nile cruise ! He picked us up early because we asked if we could possibly stop somewhere before dinner. He was able to take us to that place then still made it on time for the dinner. He was so kind and gracious. He waited with us while we ate our dinner, helped us take pictures and just made sure we had an overall good time. This was the best experience ever !
Our guides Eslam and Mohammad were great took us off-roading to all different places in the desert, they were very knowledgeable and fun your guides would defiantly recommend you can also see thousands of stars when you sleep in the desert so that alone is worth it When travelling from Cairo to meet your guides defiantly bring some headphones though as it’s a very long drive
