Full description
Embark on a day trip where the rainforest meets the reef. See natural sights including the Great Barrier Reef, experience a wildlife cruise, and participate in a smoke ceremony as you go. Start your adventure with a scenic coastal drive from Cairns to Port Douglas, the far north’s very own great ocean road with panoramic views of the sparkling Coral Sea. The first stop is Mossman Gorge, which is in the southern sector of the world-famous Daintree National Park. The gorge has been carved out by the cold mountain waters of the Mossman River, which winds through large granite boulders, bordered by lush green rainforest. It’s a magical place and you’ll be welcomed by the traditional owners, the Kuku Yalanji people, who will also cleanse you of evil spirits during a smoke ceremony. Also, enjoy a refreshing swim in the cascading waters. After crossing the mighty Daintree River and a lunch break, it’s time to explore the ancient rainforest environment on an interesting guided tour of the Marrdja Botanical Boardwalk. Highly trained guides will give expert rainforest interpretation, which will inform and impress. Be amazed at the huge diversity you will encounter, you will discover everything from low-lying ferns and shrubs, to the massive rainforest canopy and even mangrove ecosystems - all in one short easy walk. You can choose to taste locally made ice cream, at your own cost, and prepare for a photo opportunity at the Alexandra Range Lookout, which provides sweeping views over the Daintree River, its rainforest delta, and out to the Coral Sea. In the afternoon, experience a wildlife cruise on the river (if option selected). During the cruise, you may see a crocodile, while learning about the fragile ecosystem of this impressive serpent-like river system. On the return journey to Cairns, drive through Port Douglas, a picturesque beachside village with a laid-back vibe and loads of bars and cafes.

Tom was a great tour guide!! He definitely made the tour much better, it was a nice tour but for the price I expected a little bit more.. it was a lot of driving (understandable) but the places we saw didn’t really blow my mind. Sadly because of the weather we couldn’t go more north with the ferry and went to a beach and look out in Port Douglas instead which was not that special (also because of bad weather) Lunch was ok but expected a little more + I still had to pay for my own drink with my meal. (So not included in lunch) Tom is a great tour guide and I saw that he really tried his best to make it a great day. He was very funny and good speaker. :)

This was a great experience. It was a long day but very worth it. Jordan did a great job giving the tour. He was very knowledgeable about local history, animals and the rain forest. If you only have a few days up in Cairns and want to make the most of a trip I highly recommend booking this one

Get to see drive along scenic Cook highway, the rainforest on both sides of daintree river, as long as river not too dangerous (raging water that occurs after big rainfall in the Wet) option of short swim, the Rainforest walks are on platforms so any comfortable footwear works ... mosquitos only appeared in big numbers on path north of daintree but no bites if had on bugspray available most tourist shops. Good idea to have cheap poncho if go in Wet in case of downpours. The optional boat cruise had great scenery ...and whether see wildlife hit or miss...we saw one croc. A good day, with need for ferry to cross river, winding roads, was glad went with bus tour of 20 rather than driving...the guides explanations also great and better than the scant signs on trails. A long day (about 11 hrs) but worth it to see the sights, get lots of great pictures.
