Full description

Fitzroy Island was once part of mainland Australia, before being separated by rising waters. Over time a fringing coral reef surrounded the island, providing a sheltered home to a variety of fish and coral species. Explore this marine wonderland on a day tour from Cairns, crossing by ferry to enjoy wilderness hiking trails and snorkeling adventures. Choose from a range of packages, including transfers for you to explore on your own, or a package including snorkel or glass-bottom boat activities. Explore the Island's 339 hectares of lush rainforest that covers 94 percent of the island and is protected and managed as a National Park. Walking trails are suitable for all levels of fitness, allowing you to explore areas of the island at your leisure. The fast catamaran departs from the Marlin Marina, with check-in at the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal. Fitzroy island itself was stunning! Unfortunately, we went on a rainy day, so didn’t get to snorkel or get to see the corals & fish as the algae was pretty bad & blocking the glass of the bottom glass boat from seeing into the ocean. Otherwise, it would’ve been an amazing day.

We had loads of fun. The crew on board the ship were great. The island is lovely even though the facilities are a bit outdated. The walk to Nudey beach is challenging but worth it. Good snorkelling there. Glass-bottomed boat trip a bit disappointing. The coral was not that great although the on-board guide was very informative. Overall, a great day out.

Due to rain &winds prior to out tour the water wasn’t very clear. However this trip and the island were still well worth it. The island is stunning with multiple beaches to explore and good quality paths. So many photo opportunities so make sure ur phone is fully charged. You can snorkel to see the coral n fish, take a walk around the island or just relax on one of the beaches.
