What to Expect
Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding rainforest and beautiful coral colored seas. Travel across truly stunning, untamed bush land and hand feed a kangaroo. Spend free time sightseeing in historic Cooktown. Travel from Cape Tribulation to Cooktown and experience a tour unlike any other.
After a pick-up, travel north along the scenic route to Mossman. Lush farmland contrasts with seascape as we approach the majestic Daintree River. After a short morning tea break, depart on a 1-hour river cruise. Relax and enjoy the splendour only the Daintree can offer as you learn of Estuarine Crocodiles, mangrove forests and wildlife.
Take the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo over a barbecue lunch. Then visit the pristine Emmagen Creek. Here you can enjoy a refreshing rainforest stream swim, seek fish and turtles in the creek, find butterflies and exotic birds in the trees, and indulge in a feast of tropical fruit. You will be taken to your overnight accommodation in Cape Tribulation, where the remainder of the day and evening will be spent at your leisure.
After being collected from your accommodation, your journey will continue to Cooktown – the Last Frontier of North Queensland. The 4WD only Bloomfield Track allows you to travel through the heart of this World Heritage Listed area, providing incredible glimpses of Australia.
After lunch at the Lion's Den Hotel, one of North Queensland’s oldest running bush pubs, you will visit the mysterious Black Mountains steeped in Aboriginal legend. In the afternoon you will arrive in Cooktown. Enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of Cooktown, the Endeavour River and the Coral Sea. Overnight stop in Cooktown.
Spend a free morning exploring Cooktown, or take the optional Aboriginal Rock Art Tour if desired.
During the afternoon, depart Cooktown via the inland road (The Mulligan Highway), and travel through a diverse landscape of cattle stations and the Palmer River Gold mine region. Stop for dinner at the authentic Queenslander pub in the old mining town of Mount Carbine.
