Cahuita National Park

Cahuita National Park has the largest coral reef system in Costa Rica, which includes 6 species of coral, a wide range of colorful tropical fish and the occasional encounter with a harmless reef shark or manta ray. This beach is shaped like a horseshoe, with the park entrance at one end and beautiful Punta Cahuita at the other end. What to bring? Arriving in Cahuita you will meet with the guide and he will take you to the entrance of the National Park where you will have to register and pay the donation (not included), then continue to board the boat that has capacity for 10 people, will go a captain and guide, where you will move to the points where snorkeling is done in one of the most important coral reefs in Costa Rica, you will be provided with snorkeling equipment (masks, frog legs and tube). Afterwards, you will stop at Punta Cahuita beach where you can rest in the shade of the trees and enjoy a tropical fruit or continue with a swim in the crystal clear waters. To finish the tour and return to the village, where if you like you can re-enter the park without paying and do the hike on your own.

During your 2 hour hike in Cahuita National Park you will have the opportunity to observe many animals in their natural habitat, lush forest and beautiful white sandy beach scenery. Wildlife observation equipment (telescope) will be available to ensure you don't miss any details. We start with a beautiful 15 minute boat ride to have two snorkeling sessions. Then we are dropped off at the white sand beach of Punta Cahuita to enjoy a delicious fresh fruit of the season, a short break and then start a 1 hour guided hike with a certified local guide well equipped with professional animal spotting equipment (HD telescope) to observe and learn about the wonderful wildlife in its natural habitat inside the Cahuita National Park: monkeys, sloths, birds, poison dart frogs, iguanas, raccoons and other interesting encounters are common.

After disembarking from your cruise ship, you'll be picked up from the pier. Then, travel for one hour to Cahuita National Park. On the way, your guide will point out many sights of interest along the way. Upon arrival at Cahuita National Park, start the search for sloths living in their natural habitat. Learn about their natural history, behavior and many other interesting facts about this unique animal.  Discover the beautiful rainforest, with abundant wildlife including white-faced capuchin monkeys, iguanas, toucans, raccoons, and more. The park also has a beautiful white sand beach and is famous for its coral reef formations. Next, it's time to go to your next destination, the Tortuguero Canal. Board a boat and head out on a relaxing one-hour cruise along the canal. You will be able to see more sloths as they love to live close to the river.  Enjoy the stunning natural views and spot an abundance of wildlife in their natural habitat such as monkeys, aquatic birds, and caimans. Then return to Puerto Limon cruise pier, where you will be dropped off to board your cruise ship.
