Cahuita National Park has the largest coral reef system in Costa Rica, which includes 6 species of coral, a wide range of colorful tropical fish and the occasional encounter with a harmless reef shark or manta ray. This beach is shaped like a horseshoe, with the park entrance at one end and beautiful Punta Cahuita at the other end. What to bring? Start off your tour in comfort in an air-conditioned vehicle. Listen to your local guide share interesting facts about Costa Rica's Caribbean province. Take the scenic road and see the city of Puerto Limon from a viewpoint. Snap some pictures of the capital city and the ship docks. Explore the Tortuguero Canals on a 1.5-hour boat ride. Under the shade of the boat’s ceiling, your tour guide will point you to the different plants and animals in the area, and you'll learn about its biodiversity. Learn more about tropical plants and their fruits. You'll be able to see the actual plants and trees, and also taste some of these delicious fruits at a rustic fruit stand on the way to Cahuita. Stop outside a banana plantation and get to know the process of cultivating, harvesting, and shipping the fruit. Understand how bananas are a big part of Costa Rican economy, with Limon being central to this activity. Enjoy a 1.5-hour walk across the beautiful Cahuita National Park where you'll get to see even more animals and exotic plants. If the weather is nice, you can also take a dip in the sea. We start with a beautiful 15 minute boat ride to have two snorkeling sessions. Then we are dropped off at the white sand beach of Punta Cahuita to enjoy a delicious fresh fruit of the season, a short break and then start a 1 hour guided hike with a certified local guide well equipped with professional animal spotting equipment (HD telescope) to observe and learn about the wonderful wildlife in its natural habitat inside the Cahuita National Park: monkeys, sloths, birds, poison dart frogs, iguanas, raccoons and other interesting encounters are common.

During your 2 hour hike in Cahuita National Park you will have the opportunity to observe many animals in their natural habitat, lush forest and beautiful white sandy beach scenery. Wildlife observation equipment (telescope) will be available to ensure you don't miss any details. Arriving in Cahuita you will meet with the guide and he will take you to the entrance of the National Park where you will have to register and pay the donation (not included), then continue to board the boat that has capacity for 10 people, will go a captain and guide, where you will move to the points where snorkeling is done in one of the most important coral reefs in Costa Rica, you will be provided with snorkeling equipment (masks, frog legs and tube). Afterwards, you will stop at Punta Cahuita beach where you can rest in the shade of the trees and enjoy a tropical fruit or continue with a swim in the crystal clear waters. To finish the tour and return to the village, where if you like you can re-enter the park without paying and do the hike on your own.

Our naturalist tour guide will be waiting for you at the entrance of Cahuita National Park to explain the entry process.
